Chifa Enters Bengaluru’s Marathahalli with Chinese-Peruvian Cuisine

Chifa, a restaurant inspired by Chinese-Peruvian cuisine, has opened in Marathahalli, Bengaluru. The restaurant brings together Chinese cooking techniques and Peruvian flavours, offering diners a different take on global cuisine. The concept takes inspiration from Chifa cuisine, which developed in Peru after Chinese immigrants brought their food traditions to the country in the 19th century. Over time, Chinese cooking methods blended with local Peruvian ingredients to create a distinct style of food.

Founded by Sundeep Reddy, Chifa is part of his growing hospitality portfolio in Bengaluru, which includes Mirth and Roxie. He is also a partner at Balcony Bar and Runway 27 and Co-founder of hospitality management company Azralius. The restaurant is built around the idea of migration cuisine, where food traditions evolve as people and cultures move across borders. Its menu draws on Chinese and Peruvian influences, using traditional cooking techniques alongside local ingredients, spices and flavours.

Chifa features three dining spaces: The Valley, The Crossing and The Canopy — each offering a different setting for guests. The Valley has a more intimate atmosphere, while The Crossing is designed for social gatherings. The Canopy offers an outdoor dining experience overlooking the city.

The menu draws from popular Chifa dishes such as lomo saltado, a Peruvian stir-fry traditionally made with beef, onions, tomatoes and peppers, served with rice and French fries. Other dishes associated with the cuisine include arroz chaufa, a Chinese-style fried rice, wantán frito and tallarín saltado. The restaurant also features a bar programme. Its signature cocktail, Barrio Chino, combines whiskey, Martini Bianco, elderflower, fresh apple and olive brine.

Sundeep Reddy, Co-Founder, Chica added, “Bengaluru has always been a city of curious eaters, and diners today have travelled more, seen more and become far more adventurous with flavour. At Chifa, innovation is our core principle, and our series of tacos is easily one of our best-sellers. For us, the taco is less a recipe and more a passport, travelling through smoky chillies, Asian sauces, Indian pickles and plenty of griddle-char. “

“That spirit led us to create India’s first smashed burger tacos, which have quickly become a crowd favourite. Our picantes and the Peru Roast Chicken, inspired by Pollo a la Brasa, are also among our most-loved dishes. Tacos don’t follow borders. They follow flavor,” said Reddy.

With its food, bar and multiple dining spaces, Chifa aims to offer an experience that brings together different culinary traditions while adding to Bengaluru’s evolving restaurant scene.
