Hadō has entered Mumbai's premium beverage market with a range of crafted sodas, combining clean-label ingredients with familiar flavour profiles as demand for better-for-you drinks continues to grow in India's hospitality and retail sectors.
Founded by Stuti Srivastava, the brand traces its inspiration to her family's carbonated beverage business in Larkana, Sindh, during the 1930s. While studying Biology at the University of Miami, Srivastava identified a gap in India's clean-label beverage segment, leading to the creation of Hadō.
Stuti Srivastava, Founder of Hadō, said, "I grew up hearing fragments of that story at family gatherings. It wasn't until I found myself arguing over the exact same things—bottling, formulation, distribution—that I realized I'd come full circle. But my goal was never to recreate the past. It was to build what I believe the future of soda in India can look like."
The beverage has been developed with 10g of plant-based prebiotic fibre using Inulin and FOS, contains zero added sugar sweetened with monk fruit, and is made without artificial preservatives. The company said the product's preservative-free formulation has been verified through independent NABL-accredited laboratory testing.
Srivastava said, "It was never about creating another health product. If we did our job correctly, people won't realize they're drinking a functional beverage—they'll just assume they're sipping a really good soda."
The brand derives its name from the Japanese word Hadō, meaning energy or vibration, and has introduced four flavours inspired by Indian taste preferences: Guava Chilli – After Hours, Lemongrass Ginger – Clean Slate, Lychee Rose – Sweet Nothings, and Pineapple Coconut – Easy Breezy.
According to the company, developing the beverage required nearly two years, 100 formulation iterations, and more than 6,000 trial cans to achieve the desired balance of flavour, carbonation and functional ingredients.
Following its launch, Hadō reported that its initial production run sold out within two months. The brand is now available at more than 90 general and modern trade outlets across Mumbai, including Foodhall and 7-Eleven, while expanding its distribution through speciality cafés, fitness centres and lifestyle retail locations.
