Bapuna Alcobrew has introduced the second expression under its Banjara Trail series with the launch of The Banjara Trail — Traveller's Edition, Western Ghats. Bottled at 42.8 percent ABV in a 750ml format, the limited-edition gin features notes of orange, hibiscus and kokum, offering a lighter and more floral profile than the original Chambal Gin.
Produced in Madhya Pradesh, Chambal Gin is positioned as the state's first premium gin. The Gwalior-based distillery, operated by the Bapuna family, has been distilling spirits since 1987 across three generations. The company produces its own triple-distilled fine grain spirit before redistilling it with selected botanicals.
The original Chambal Dry Gin was inspired by the Chambal Valley and includes botanicals such as juniper, wild cinnamon bark, black and green cardamom, lemon peel and almond. With the Banjara Trail series, the brand plans to create limited-edition expressions inspired by different regions of India, using local botanicals and regional flavour profiles.
The first Traveller's Edition is based on the Western Ghats, using orange, hibiscus and kokum to reflect the region's botanical diversity while retaining the brand's original distillation process.
The launch also marks the continued expansion of Bapuna Alcobrew's premium portfolio. In addition to its own brands, the company manufactures spirits for companies including Pernod Ricard India, Radico Khaitan, Mohan Meakin and Bacardi.
Pervez Bapuna, COO of Bapuna Alcobrew, said, “When we set out to create our own portfolio of premium spirits, our ambition was clear - to craft world-class expressions that are unmistakably Indian. With Chambal Indian Dry Gin, we invited consumers to discover a spirit rooted in the very heart of the country. But India is vast and diverse, and we have many more stories to tell. Inspired by original explorers, our Banjara Edition sets out to discover new corners of the nation through unique regional botanicals and flavors. The Western Ghats Edition marks the second stop on this journey—and there is still so much more of India left to bottle.”
