Unify Foodworks Raises Rs 5 Crore to Expand Moe's Casa Mexicana and Carvel Across NCR

Unify Foodworks, the exclusive pan-Indian master franchisee for Moe's Casa Mexicana and Carvel, has raised Rs 5 crore through a seed funding round via compulsorily convertible debentures (CCDs). The capital will be used to expand both brands across the National Capital Region (NCR), where they launched their India operations. The company has a long-term target of building a network of more than 100 stores across the country.

The immediate focus is on increasing store presence, improving brand visibility and strengthening operations in NCR before entering additional markets. The company plans to use the region to assess store economics, menu localisation and operating processes as it prepares for wider expansion.

Moe's Casa Mexicana operates in the fast-casual Mexican food segment, offering burritos, bowls and tacos alongside India-specific options such as Habanero Paneer. India is the brand's first international market. Unify Foodworks also holds the master franchise for Moe's Southwest Grill, the larger-format restaurant concept within the portfolio. Carvel, the American ice cream brand founded in 1934, entered the Indian market in 2025 with an outlet in Connaught Place.

Both brands are owned by Roark Capital, whose portfolio also includes Subway, Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin'. Their expansion in India will be supported by Unify's operating infrastructure, including supply chain and logistics systems, standardised processes and digital SOP-based training for store employees.

Sumer Sethi, Founder and CEO, Unify Foodworks, said, “Travel has rewired the Indian palate. Someone who has had a burrito in Atlanta or a soft serve in New York comes home expecting that exact experience, not a local approximation of it. For this consumer, consistency is the indulgence. Global brands are engineered to deliver it, but only when the operator gets the foundations right. This round gives us the runway to build those foundations store by store, so every new opening is a proven model repeated, not an experiment. Just as valuable are backers who understand consumer brands and share our long view. Our ambition is to make Unify Foodworks the go-to platform for international F&B brands entering India, scaling names that own their category without diluting what made them iconic,”

The company will prioritise building a repeatable operating model in NCR before taking the brands into other markets. Its expansion strategy will depend on store-level performance, supply chain capabilities and the ability to maintain consistent product and service standards across locations.
