Tora Opens in Versova With a 40-Seat Format Built for All-Day Dining

Tora has opened in Versova as a 40-seat neighbourhood dining destination founded by Gaurav Sharma and Sangeeta Kapure. The concept combines food, beverages, music and design across an all-day format aimed at different dining occasions.

The restaurant’s food and beverage programme is led by Chef Gaurav Gidwani and Director of Mixology Shobith Salian. The menu draws from multiple culinary traditions, with contemporary interpretations of familiar flavours and ingredients.

Dishes include Crispy Devil Eggs, Burrata Chaat Salad, Puffed Rice Arancini, Sweet Potato & Kaffir Lime Galouti and Nihari En Croute. The menu focuses on contrasts in texture, temperature, acidity, richness and spice while retaining familiar flavour references.

The beverage programme covers cocktails, coffee, matcha-based drinks and signature beverages. Offerings include Tiramisu Coffee, Kunafa Chocolate, Pistachio Latte, Cotton Candy White Chocolate Matcha and Passionfruit Coconut Cloud.

“Tora is our vision of a contemporary neighbourhood destination where great food, creative beverages and an inviting atmosphere come together,” say founders Gaurav Sharma and Sangeeta Kapure. “We wanted to create a space that feels equally natural for a casual afternoon, an intimate dinner or an evening spent with friends, while building an identity that guests can connect with and return to.”

The interiors use layered textures, lighting and contemporary design elements to support the restaurant’s transition from daytime dining to evening service. The format is positioned around both food and beverage consumption, with the space intended to operate as a neighbourhood destination.

Managing Partner Arka Mukherjee oversees hospitality, sales, business development and brand-building for the project. He is working with the founders and the culinary and beverage teams on Tora’s business and hospitality operations.

The Versova outlet is the first step in the founders’ plans to develop Tora into a broader hospitality brand combining food, beverages and neighbourhood-focused dining spaces.
