Swinton House has entered Kolkata with a new outlet on Park Street, expanding its café, cocktail bar and nightlife concept beyond Jaipur. The venue combines modern European café cuisine, cocktails and themed interiors, with its Kolkata offering drawing on the city’s food culture and heritage.
The brand’s first property in Jaipur was developed within a 150-year-old heritage building around the concept of Mr. Swinton’s home. In Kolkata, the design takes the form of his apartment, with themed spaces representing a bedroom, office and library, alongside a washroom featuring a jacuzzi. The interiors use vintage-inspired details, patterned surfaces, statement lighting and varied textures.
The Kolkata outlet’s menu, curated by Chef Prince Beniwal, combines European café-style dishes with Bengali flavours, street food and home-style cooking. Developed around the theme “Kolkata, Reimagined,” the menu includes a European-style Bhetki fish croquette with Kasundi mashed potato, Mishti Doi cheesecake, Jhalmuri, Phuchka, Beetroot Chops and Kosha Mangsho. Mustard, kasundi, mustard oil, Bengali spices, fish, mutton and seasonal vegetables feature across the selection.
The cocktail programme, led by Head Mixologist Ankur, draws on flavour profiles ranging from nuts and coffee to florals, spices and sweet ingredients. The menu combines infusions and contemporary techniques with traditional bartending methods, locally sourced ingredients and globally inspired spirits. Ankur also incorporates ingredients and flavour references from his Himachali background into the drinks.
The venue’s operating format is designed to accommodate different occasions throughout the day. Daytime service focuses on dining and cocktails, including lunches and dinners, while evenings shift towards music, social gatherings and celebrations. Weekends and late nights place greater emphasis on the bar and nightlife offering.
With its Park Street opening, Swinton House is adapting its existing concept to Kolkata through a menu centred on regional flavours, a themed interior and a cocktail programme tailored to the venue’s dining and nightlife format.
