Sunny Da Dhaba’s legacy in Lonavala is getting a new format with the launch of Mirari, a culinary bungalow that combines two dining concepts, Leni and Avaali, under one destination.
Founded by Sharad Wadhwani, Mirari builds on the legacy associated with Sunny Da Dhaba while introducing a contemporary food and beverage format for Lonavala’s growing dining market. The property is positioned around dine-in occasions ranging from café visits and family meals to evening drinks and road-trip stops.
Leni is the café concept, drawing its name from the Buddhist cave sanctuaries associated with the region. Its menu includes Burrata Margherita Flatbread, Corn Bhaji with Poached Egg, Pulled Lamb Leg Sandwich, Lonavala's Famous Walnut Fudge Crêpes and Sticky Toffee Ginger Pudding. The beverage offering includes the Morning After Cold Brew and Mogra Cooler.
Avaali focuses on contemporary Indian cuisine and combines established Sunny Da Dhaba dishes with newer preparations. Its menu includes 100 Layer Sindhi Aloo Tukk, Kerala Prawn Pepper Fry Cigars, Truffle & Herb Kothambir Wadi, OG Butter Chicken and Mirari Falooda. Its cocktail menu includes Aamlet, based on aam panna, and Fudge, made with Baileys coffee liqueur and inspired by Lonavala’s fudge.
The property has been designed by FK’D Workshop, Mumbai, with a multi-level layout connecting its dining areas. It includes an island bar positioned between indoor and outdoor spaces, a private dining room and an open-air timber-deck balcony.
Sharad Wadhwani, Founder, Mirari, said, “Lonavala has always been more than a getaway, it is where memories are made. With Mirari, we wanted to create a grand bungalow in the hills that honours the warmth and legacy of Sunny Da Dhaba while offering a fresh dining experience for today’s traveller. This is our way of giving back to a place that has given us so much.”
The launch expands the Sunny Da Dhaba association in Lonavala beyond its established dhaba format, with Mirari using multiple dining concepts to cater to different occasions and consumption patterns.
