Shiv Sagar has opened its second food truck in Wagle Estate, Thane, following the launch of its first unit in BKC. The expansion marks an addition to the group’s existing restaurant network as it explores smaller food service formats in commercial locations.
The brand operates 17 outlets across Mumbai and Pune. Its food trucks are intended to serve as additional customer touchpoints in high-footfall areas, catering to quick meals, takeaway and on-the-go consumption. The format also allows the group to test demand across different locations without relying solely on conventional restaurant spaces.
Narayan Poojari, Founder and Chairman, Shiv Sagar Group, said, “As consumer dining habits evolve, we are looking at formats that allow us to take Shiv Sagar closer to customers and serve different occasions. The food truck gives us the flexibility to experiment with locations while retaining the food and familiarity that customers associate with the brand. We see the food truck as an opportunity to explore new locations and customer occasions. As we understand the response to the format, we will evaluate its potential across other markets.”
The Thane food truck serves selected items from the brand’s menu, including Pav Bhaji, Tava Pulao, Thatte Idli, Cheese Pizza and Benne Dosa. Its street-facing setup is designed for quick ordering and takeaway, with service focused on customers who need convenient meal options during the workday.
Wagle Estate’s office-going population forms a key customer segment for the new unit. The location also gives Shiv Sagar an opportunity to assess demand in a commercial catchment, while its BKC outlet provides a point of comparison across two business districts.
The group will evaluate customer response at both locations before considering the format for other markets. The initiative adds a food truck model to Shiv Sagar’s restaurant operations as it explores ways to serve customers across different locations and dining occasions.
