Restaurant India News: Third Wave Coffee Strengthens Western India Cluster With Ahmedabad Launch

Third Wave Coffee has expanded its national footprint by opening two new cafés in Ahmedabad, marking its first major entry into the city beyond its existing outlet at the airport. The new cafés are located on CG Road and in Prahlad Nagar, two high-traffic urban hubs known for strong retail and social activity. This move aligns with the brand’s wider expansion strategy across western India, complementing its cluster presence in Mumbai and Pune.

With more than 195 cafés across 12 cities, Third Wave Coffee is now leveraging Ahmedabad’s established café culture and rising demand for premium beverages. The brand views this expansion as part of a long-term plan to deepen consumer engagement in high-potential markets.

Rajat Luthra, CEO, Third Wave Coffee, said: “We are excited to bring Third Wave Coffee to Gujarat. Entering Ahmedabad is a natural step in our growth journey, driven by consumer demand and the city’s vibrant café culture. What stands out about Ahmedabad is its warmth, hospitality, and rising appetite for premium coffee, values that strongly resonate with our brand ethos. We look forward to earning the same affection here that we enjoy in other markets.”

For Ahmedabad, the brand has introduced a city-specific, fully vegetarian food menu designed to suit local preferences. Items include Bun Maska, classic puffs, Shrikhand Cheesecake, Biscoff Brownie, mousse cups, pastries, artisanal vegetarian sandwiches, wraps, pizzas, quesadillas, croissant sandwiches, smoothie bowls, soft gelatos, and waffles. All beverage offerings continue to follow the brand’s coffee-first philosophy, using ethically sourced beans.

The new stores are designed as contemporary spaces built to support work, casual meetings, and everyday social interactions. Each café offers seating for more than 50 guests, with layouts focused on comfort and accessibility.

Rajat added: “As we continue expanding nationally, our focus remains clear- championing great coffee and making it accessible to every consumer, whether they’re visiting our cafés or brewing it at home. For us, growth isn’t just about entering new cities; it’s about building deeper connections, understanding preferences, and creating spaces where people can unwind, gather, and enjoy a truly elevated coffee experience. Our commitment to being a coffee-forward brand guides every expansion, and we’re excited to bring this experience to Ahmedabad.”

Ahmedabad has emerged as a strong market for café chains due to evolving consumer habits, a young urban population, and increased out-of-home consumption. Demand for premium, experience-driven spaces has been rising, creating opportunities for specialty coffee brands to scale within the region. With its new cafés, Third Wave Coffee begins its next phase of growth in Gujarat and strengthens its positioning within India’s expanding specialty coffee landscape.
