Restaurant India News: The Shalimar Hotel Revives Gulmurg After 18-Month Makeover

Gulmurg, the iconic restaurant at The Shalimar Hotel, Kemps Corner, has reopened after an 18-month restoration, marking a new chapter for the 63-year-old dining institution. Established in 1962, the South Mumbai favourite has refreshed its interiors, dining experience, and menu while preserving the signature flavours, warm hospitality, and familiar ambience that have defined it for generations.

The restoration has been guided by a philosophy of thoughtful evolution rather than reinvention, ensuring the restaurant retains its legacy while adapting to contemporary dining preferences.

The reopening also marks the continuation of a three-generation family legacy. After being nurtured by Mr. D.S. Advani, Chairman & Managing Director of The Shalimar Hotel, Gulmurg now enters its next phase under the leadership of Yash Advani, who will carry forward the family's long-standing commitment to quality and guest experience.

The menu continues to feature enduring favourites, including the iconic Chicken Makhanwala and Paneer Makhanwala, alongside carefully curated regional specialties, seasonal dishes, and modern additions that complement the restaurant's heritage. With refreshed interiors, an elevated food and beverage programme, and attentive service, Gulmurg blends timeless hospitality with a contemporary dining experience, reaffirming its place as one of Mumbai's enduring culinary landmarks.
