Restaurant India News: The Embassy Launches Gurgaon Outlet, Continues 1948 Legacy

The Embassy, a long-standing restaurant brand in New Delhi established in 1948, is expanding its presence with a new outlet at Elan Epic Mall in Sector 70, Gurgaon. The move marks the brand’s entry into a new market while continuing its legacy positioning in North India’s dining segment.

The restaurant was founded in the post-Partition period by G.K. Ghai and P.N. Malhotra, who built the business around consistent food offerings and a community-driven dining approach. Over the decades, the Connaught Place location developed into a well-known gathering space, attracting a wide mix of customers including political figures, artists, and families.

The brand has retained its original menu approach, focusing on dishes that have remained unchanged over time. The offering continues to reflect recipes that originated during the mid-20th century and have been carried forward without major modification. The current expansion is positioned as a continuation of this approach rather than a shift in format.

Pranay Bahl added, “My great grandfather built Embassy in 1948 with the belief that food could bring people together in uncertain times. Decades later, Avantika and I are proud to carry that legacy forward in Gurgaon, honouring the originals while welcoming a new generation to the table.”

Avantika Sinha Bahl added, “Embassy has history, but it also has energy. We wanted Gurgaon to experience the warmth, theatre and timeless charm of the brand in a space designed for today’s diners.”

The Gurgaon outlet will serve core menu items that have historically driven the brand’s recall. These include The Embassy Giant Samosa, Imperial Chicken Chaat, Chana Bhatura, Dal Meat, Tomato Fish, and The Embassy Pudding, along with other North Indian and continental dishes.

The new location has a seating capacity of 80 covers and includes a private dining space for up to 10 guests. The design combines traditional elements with updated layouts to suit current dining preferences. Features include indoor seating, a performance stage for live events, and design elements that reference the brand’s history.

The expansion reflects a broader trend where legacy restaurant brands are entering new urban markets while maintaining their core identity. The Gurgaon launch positions The Embassy to tap into a growing customer base in the NCR region, supported by a mix of corporate, residential, and retail demand.

The opening at Elan Epic Mall signals a measured growth strategy for the brand, focusing on selective expansion while retaining operational consistency and menu continuity built over more than 75 years.
