Restaurant India News: Summit Hotels Launches The Mandir Collection to Tap India’s Spiritual Tourism Market

Summit Hotels & Resorts has announced the launch of The Mandir Collection, a new hospitality brand focused on pilgrimage destinations and spiritually driven travel experiences, as the company looks to capitalise on the rapid growth of India's spiritual tourism sector. The launch marks Summit's entry into a travel segment that has gained momentum in recent years, supported by improved infrastructure, better connectivity, and increasing consumer interest in faith-based, cultural, and wellness-oriented travel.

The first project under the new brand will be located in Salasar. Planned as Summit Salasar – The Mandir Collection, the property is being developed to serve a broad range of travellers, including devotees, families, wellness seekers, and guests attending destination events and gatherings.

The proposed hotel is expected to feature approximately 70 rooms and villas, including private pool villas. The property will also offer services and experiences aligned with spiritual tourism, including Satvik dining, temple assistance services, wellness programmes, devotional evening activities, banquet facilities, outdoor event spaces, and access to the nearby Salasar Balaji Temple.

Sumit Mitruka, CEO, Summit Hotels & Resorts, said, “Spiritual travel in India is experiencing a massive boom, with nearly 1 in 5 Indians planning faith-based or wellness trips. Travellers today are not only visiting pilgrimage destinations for religious reasons but also seeking experiences in wellness, culture, and personal connection. India’s spiritual tourism economy is projected to reach USD 135 billion by 2034, and through The Mandir Collection, our intention is to create hospitality experiences that remain rooted in the spirit of the destination while offering the comfort and quality modern travellers expect.”

Summit Hotels & Resorts plans to expand The Mandir Collection across selected pilgrimage circuits and religious tourism destinations. The company is currently evaluating opportunities in locations including Haridwar and Ayodhya, alongside other emerging spiritual tourism markets.
