Restaurant India News: IHG Signs Holiday Inn Sriperumbudur, Expands in Tamil Nadu Growth Market

IHG Hotels & Resorts has entered into a management agreement with Thanishq Grande Hotels & Resorts to develop a new Holiday Inn property in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. The hotel is scheduled to open in Q1 2029 and reflects IHG’s continued focus on expanding in high-growth industrial and commercial hubs across India.

The upcoming Holiday Inn Sriperumbudur will feature 200 keys and is expected to cater to a mix of corporate, transit, and spiritual travel demand. The development will include standard rooms and suites, three dining outlets, and supporting infrastructure such as a ballroom, swimming pool, and fitness centre, aligning with full-service brand standards.

The signing reinforces the presence of the Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts portfolio in India, which continues to target both business and leisure segments through a midscale offering. The brand remains a key driver in IHG’s India growth strategy, particularly in emerging markets with strong commercial activity.

Expansion in logistics and warehousing infrastructure is also contributing to consistent demand for organised hospitality in the area.

IHG Hotels & Resorts currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in India, including Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, voco Hotels, Holiday Inn Resort, and Holiday Inn Express, with a pipeline of 89 additional hotels expected to open over the next 3-5 years. The Sriperumbudur signing is part of this broader expansion plan aimed at strengthening the company’s footprint in secondary and high-growth micro-markets.
