IHG Hotels & Resorts has expanded its premium portfolio in North India with the launch of voco Amritsar, marking the brand’s entry into Punjab. The property is positioned to cater to leisure, spiritual, and business travellers, reflecting increasing demand for experience-led hospitality offerings in culturally significant destinations.
Located close to the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Wagah Border, the hotel benefits from proximity to key tourist and heritage sites. It also offers connectivity to Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport, enabling access for both domestic and international travellers. The location aligns with the broader industry trend of developing hotels in high-footfall pilgrimage and tourism corridors.
Manish Kumar Yadav, General Manager, voco Amritsar, said, “voco Amritsar has been envisioned as a stay experience that balances comfort with a strong sense of place — inviting guests to truly unwind while staying connected to the city’s spiritual and cultural pulse. This opening is also a proud moment for our entire team, whose passion, hard work and attention to detail have brought the voco spirit to life in Amritsar, ensuring guests feel genuinely welcomed from the moment they arrive.”
The property features 139 rooms across multiple categories, including Standard Rooms, Premium Rooms, Suites, and Duplex Rooms designed with a two-level layout. Room design focuses on functional layouts, workspaces, and neutral colour schemes. The hotel has incorporated sustainability measures such as bedding made from recycled materials, including duvets and pillows produced using recycled plastic.
Food and beverage offerings include Saffron for all-day dining and regional cuisine, The Gallery for tea and desserts, and Plum Lounge, a rooftop bar serving cocktails and small plates. Wellness and recreation facilities include Tattva Spa, a fitness centre, and an outdoor swimming pool, in line with current guest expectations for integrated lifestyle amenities.
For events and meetings, the hotel provides seven indoor venues and two outdoor spaces. The 8,075 sq. ft. Blossom Ballroom serves as the primary event space, supported by additional venues such as Imperial Hall, Legacy Hall, Colonial Court Room, Magnolia Hall, Maple Chamber, and Pearl Chamber. Outdoor options include Harmony Lawn and The Pavilion, catering to both corporate and social gatherings.
The opening reflects IHG’s strategy to scale its premium segment in North India, targeting destinations with a mix of tourism, religious significance, and business activity. The introduction of the voco brand in Amritsar indicates a focus on differentiated hospitality formats that combine operational efficiency with localized guest experiences.
