Himmaleh Spirits has announced the launch of Darma, a premium blended whisky that combines Indian whisky with select Scottish malts and a light bourbon influence. The launch marks the company’s entry into the blended whisky segment, adding to its existing portfolio that includes Bandarful, Kumaon & I, and Jin Jiji. Darma draws inspiration from the Darma Valley in Uttarakhand and is positioned around a Himalayan identity.
The whisky is presented as a blend designed for contemporary Indian consumption patterns. It carries a rich gold colour with an amber tone and opens with toasted notes layered with Madagascan vanilla, coconut, and dried fruit. The palate is described as medium-bodied and smooth, with creamy caramel and mild spice, followed by a lingering finish. The overall profile is intended to offer balance and consistency rather than intensity.
Ansh Khanna, Co-Founder, Himmaleh Spirits, said, “The whisky market is growing rapidly, and consumers are looking beyond labels; they want authenticity and craftsmanship. With Darma, we saw an opportunity to create a blended whisky that reflects how India is drinking whiskey today. As one of the world’s fastest growing whiskey markets, India is seeing a new generation of drinkers who are curious, informed and looking for quality they can come back to. Darma is our response to that shift; a blended whisky that feels honest, thoughtfully crafted and naturally fits into everyday whisky moments.”
India’s whisky market was valued at nearly USD 19.2 billion in 2024 and is projected to almost double by 2030, supported by increasing disposable incomes and rising demand for premium alcoholic beverages. Against this backdrop, Himmaleh Spirits is positioning Darma as an accessible blended whisky that aligns with evolving consumer expectations.
Samarth Prasad, Co-Founder, Himmaleh Spirits, said, “Darma opens a fresh chapter in the Indian whisky story. We wanted a blended whisky with warmth, texture and layered nuance that's still unpretentious and accessible. It’s crafted for everyday enjoyment, whether at home or on holiday, offering premium whisky quality with a relaxed sense of refinement and excellent value for money.”
The packaging features a snow leopard motif, referencing balance and restraint, alongside visual elements inspired by the flora and fauna of the Darma Valley. The bottle design includes a sculpted punt intended to mirror Himalayan contours. Bottled at 42.8 percent ABV, Darma is positioned for both straight consumption and use in cocktails.
Darma will first be available in Uttarakhand at a starting price of Rs 1580, with subsequent launches planned in Goa and Gurugram, followed by additional markets.
