Restaurant India News: Havmor Returns to Ahmedabad Roots With Science City Opening

Havmor has expanded its retail presence in Gujarat with the launch of a new HavFunn outlet at Science City in Ahmedabad, reinforcing its footprint in one of India’s key ice cream consumption markets. The opening holds symbolic importance for the brand, which was founded in Ahmedabad in 1944, and marks a return to its home city as part of its wider expansion strategy.

The new outlet carries strategic relevance, with Gujarat ranking among the states in India with the highest per-capita ice cream consumption rates. By opening at Science City, Havmor has strengthened its distribution network and improved brand accessibility in a region that continues to remain a core market for the company.

The expansion also aligns with Havmor’s focus on increasing its presence across Tier II and Tier III cities. The brand is actively using franchise partnerships to enter high-potential locations and extend its reach beyond major metros, supporting long-term volume growth and market penetration.

Havmor currently operates through a large retail network of 72,000 outlets and more than 250 flagship stores. Its presence spans 21 states and 4 union territories, giving the brand extensive national coverage across both urban and emerging consumption markets.

Havmor Ice Cream operates under LOTTE India Corporation Limited and serves as the Indian subsidiary of South Korea–based global food company LOTTE Wellfood Co. Ltd. The brand’s institutional client base includes organisations such as the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, along with hospitality groups including Taj, Le Meridian, ITC, Hyatt, Four Seasons, Fortune Landmark, Radisson, Marriott, and Crowne Plaza.

The Science City launch reflects Havmor’s continued focus on strengthening regional dominance while building scale across newer markets, as the brand balances legacy markets with expansion-driven growth in India’s evolving ice cream segment.
