Restaurant India News: Effotel by Sayaji Opens 59-Room Hotel in Sangli, Expands Maharashtra Footprint

Hospitality group Sayaji Hotels has announced the launch of Effotel by Sayaji Sangli, marking the brand’s entry into the city’s organised hospitality market. The property is located within Shiv R City Mall on Sangli-Miraj Road in Sangli, a city known for its commercial and agricultural economy but with limited branded hotel infrastructure.

The opening represents the third Effotel property in Maharashtra under the Effotel brand portfolio, joining existing locations in Sarola and Navi Mumbai. The expansion aligns with the group’s strategy to introduce mid-upscale hospitality offerings in tier-2 and tier-3 markets across the state.

Effotel by Sayaji, Sangli features 59 guest rooms across five categories. The property includes 15 Grande Rooms measuring 284 sq. ft., 34 Premium Grande Rooms of 309 sq. ft., 6 Executive Grande Rooms of 373 sq. ft., 2 Grande Suites spanning 506 sq. ft., and 2 Premium Suites measuring 766 sq. ft. The room mix is designed to accommodate business travellers, leisure visitors, and long-stay guests.

Food and beverage offerings include two outlets within the property. The Cube operates as an all-day dining restaurant with a seating capacity of 120 covers, while Good Old Days is a bar designed to seat 30 guests. Both outlets are expected to serve hotel guests as well as local diners seeking organised dining options in the city.

The hotel also includes two banquet facilities designed to support meetings and social events. Jardin 1 covers 4,295 sq. ft. and can accommodate up to 350 guests in a theatre seating format. Jardin 2 spans 2,355 sq. ft. and has a capacity of 150 guests in theatre configuration, positioning the property as a venue for corporate events and gatherings in the region.

Sangli is widely recognised as the Turmeric Capital of India and remains a major agricultural and trading hub, particularly for turmeric and grape cultivation. The property is located approximately 7 km from Sangli Railway Station and about 50 km from Kolhapur Airport, offering connectivity for domestic travellers.

The hotel also benefits from proximity to nearby destinations such as Kolhapur, which houses the Mahalakshmi Temple Kolhapur and an expanding commercial district. Regional attractions including Chandoli National Park in the Western Ghats, Sagareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, Sangli Fort, and Dandoba Hills Forest Reserve are also located within accessible distance.

Rajendra Joshi, Associate General Manager, Sayaji Hotels, said, “Sangli has always been an economically active and culturally significant city, yet it has not had the branded hospitality infrastructure its stature deserves. Effotel by Sayaji, Sangli changes that narrative. This is not just another hotel opening; it is a commitment to elevating the travel and events experience for an entire region. With our Effotel brand, we bring the promise of quality, warmth, and value to markets ready to embrace it. The Kolhapur-Sangli belt represents tremendous potential for business and leisure travel, and we are proud to be the first from our portfolio to plant our flag here.”

Avinash Gangwani, Director at LKG Lifestyle LLP, added, “When we envisioned this project, we saw a clear gap. Sangli is a city that punches well above its weight economically, but visitors and business delegations have had very few quality accommodation options. Being part of the Effotel by Sayaji family brings not just a trusted brand name but a proven model of hospitality excellence. Now that we have handed over our property to Sayaji Group, we place complete trust in their exceptional services and operational expertise. We are confident this property will redefine Sangli’s position on Maharashtra’s hospitality map and will serve as a catalyst for the city’s growing tourism and corporate event ecosystem, especially given our proximity to the pilgrimage and tourism circuit around Kolhapur.”

With the new opening, Sayaji Hotels continues to expand its presence in emerging hospitality markets, targeting demand from corporate travellers, pilgrimage tourism, agricultural trade visitors, and regional event organisers across the Kolhapur-Sangli corridor.
