Restaurant India News: Carlsberg India Adds New Can Line at Mysuru Brewery with Rs 100 Crore Investment

Carlsberg India has commissioned a new canning line at its Mysuru brewery, strengthening its manufacturing footprint in Karnataka and supporting rising demand across the retail and hospitality segments. The development follows the company’s earlier commitment of Rs 350 crore announced at Invest Karnataka 2025 to expand operations at the Mysuru facility.

The newly installed can line has been set up with an investment of Rs 100 crore and adds a production capacity of 22,000 cans per hour. The additional capacity is expected to improve supply efficiency for packaged beer formats, which continue to see steady growth across on-trade and off-trade channels.

Shri Yathindra Siddaramaiah, Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), Government of Karnataka, said, “We appreciate Carlsberg India’s continued investments of Rs 350 crore in Karnataka, particularly in Mysuru, and their impactful work that contributes positively to society. These efforts reflect the company’s strong confidence in the state’s industrial ecosystem. We encourage more companies to step forward with increased local investments and job creation, especially in Mysuru, to support inclusive and sustainable regional development.”

Nilesh Patel, Managing Director, Carlsberg India, said, “Our continued investment in Karnataka underscores our long-term commitment to the state. Through this expansion, we aim to sustainably produce international-quality beers for consumers, contribute to state excise revenues, and generate additional direct and indirect employment opportunities for the local community.”

The Mysuru brewery, located in Nanjangud taluk, spans 28 acres and produces Carlsberg and Tuborg brands for the Indian market. The facility incorporates energy and resource management practices, including the use of biomass boilers powered by husk and biogas. Around 85 percent of the brewery’s power requirements are met through solar energy, aligning operations with sustainability benchmarks increasingly valued by hospitality and retail partners.

In addition to energy initiatives, Carlsberg India continues to work on water stewardship programmes in Karnataka in collaboration with WaterAid and local stakeholders. The expansion of the Mysuru plant positions the company to support future growth while maintaining operational consistency in a competitive beverage market.
