Restaurant India News: Board Restructuring at Kwality Wall’s After Stake Buy by Magnum Ice Cream Company

Kwality Wall’s India Limited has announced the appointment of Abhijit Bhattacharya and Tahir Toloy Tanridagli to its Board of Directors following the acquisition of a controlling stake by The Magnum Ice Cream Company HoldCo 1 Netherlands B.V.. The appointments, effective March 30, come as the company transitions into a new phase after becoming part of the Magnum Ice Cream Company Group.

Abhijit Bhattacharya has been appointed as an Additional Non-Executive and Non-Independent Director and will take on the role of Chairperson of the Board. Tahir Toloy Tanridagli has also joined as an Additional Non-Executive and Non-Independent Director.

Tahir Toloy Tanridagli holds a degree in Business Administration from Bogazici University and currently serves as President for the METSA markets, covering the Middle East, Turkey, Africa, Israel, and South Asia. In this role, he is responsible for strategy and overall business performance. He is also part of the Global Ice Cream Executive Leadership Team at the Magnum Ice Cream Company.

With over two decades of experience across FMCG and snacking segments, Tanridagli has worked across categories such as food, desserts, beverages, salted snacks, chocolate, and ice cream. His previous roles include leadership positions at Kraft Foods, Mondelez, and Unilever. Most recently, he served as General Manager for Unilever Ice Cream across multiple international markets and as Vice President Marketing for Foods and Refreshment across the Middle East, Africa, and Russia.

Abhijit Bhattacharya currently serves as Chief Financial Officer at The Magnum Ice Cream Company N.V. and previously held the position of CFO for Unilever Ice Cream since 2024. He brings close to four decades of experience across finance and operations. Bhattacharya spent 38 years at Koninklijke Philips, where he held senior leadership roles across Europe, Asia, and the United States, including CFO and Member of the Board of Management and Executive Committee, CFO of Philips Healthcare, CFO of Philips Lighting, and Head of Investor Relations. His experience includes managing large-scale transformation and corporate restructuring initiatives.

Kwality Wall’s India Limited was listed as a standalone entity following its demerger from Hindustan Unilever Limited. The company entered its current phase after the acquisition of a controlling stake by the Magnum Ice Cream Company under a Share Purchase Agreement signed with Unilever in June 2025. TMICC HoldCo currently holds a 61.90 percent stake in the company.

The leadership changes indicate a shift in governance structure as the company aligns with its new ownership, with a focus on scaling operations and strengthening its position in India’s ice cream and frozen dessert segment.
