Restaurant India News: Bird Foods Enters Mumbai with The Indian Stories and Ka-Ching at Oberoi Tech Park

The hospitality and food service sector continues to see expansion within corporate business districts as operators look to capture weekday demand from office-going consumers. In the latest move, Rahul Sehgal, Business Head at Bird Group, announced that Bird Foods has entered the Maharashtra market with the launch of two food concepts at Oberoi Tech Park.

The brands, The Indian Stories and Ka-Ching, began operations at Commerz III within the technology and commercial complex in Mumbai on 11 February 2026. The location places the outlets in one of the city’s major office clusters, an area that attracts significant daily footfall from professionals working in technology, finance, and corporate services.

According to the company, the launch is aimed at addressing demand for structured, high-quality food court dining in office environments. Corporate parks across major Indian cities are increasingly becoming key locations for quick service restaurants and multi-brand operators due to consistent weekday traffic and limited time available for office workers to dine.

For its Mumbai entry, The Indian Stories has introduced a menu centred on South Indian and coastal cuisine. The offering is anchored by the Benne Dosa, a regional specialty traditionally associated with Karnataka’s culinary landscape. The menu reflects the brand’s focus on regional Indian food narratives while adapting the format for quick service environments within commercial districts.

Alongside this concept, Ka-Ching has been introduced as an Asian-inspired quick service restaurant format offering popular contemporary Asian dishes. The addition of Ka-Ching expands Bird Foods’ portfolio of brands designed for food courts and high-traffic office spaces.

The launch also signals Bird Foods’ broader strategy to build a multi-brand presence in locations with strong weekday demand. Corporate hubs, technology parks, and mixed-use commercial developments have become a major growth segment for the organised food service industry as operators move beyond traditional high-street and mall locations.

Industry observers note that such locations provide predictable demand patterns, especially during lunch hours, making them attractive for quick service restaurant formats. Food brands operating in these environments typically focus on speed, consistency, and menu formats suited for short dining windows.

With the new outlets now operational in Mumbai, Bird Foods is expected to continue expanding across commercial and business-focused real estate projects as part of its ongoing growth plans within the hospitality and food service sector.

The expansion also reflects a broader trend where hospitality companies are increasingly integrating multiple food brands within a single location to serve diverse consumer preferences while improving operational efficiency. Bird Foods’ entry into Mumbai is therefore seen as a strategic move aligned with evolving workplace dining patterns and the growth of organised food services in India’s major business districts.
