Restaurant India News: BarQat at JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar Names Faheem Qureshi as MasterChef

BarQat, the Indian specialty restaurant at JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar, has appointed Faheem Qureshi as MasterChef, a move aligned with the restaurant’s ongoing focus on structured growth and culinary consistency. In his new role, Chef Faheem will oversee kitchen operations, menu development, culinary execution, and team management, supporting the restaurant’s regional Indian positioning.

The appointment is aimed at strengthening kitchen systems at BarQat, with a clear emphasis on operational discipline, consistency, quality control, and compliance with safety and hygiene standards. Chef Faheem’s mandate includes reinforcing processes that support reliable execution while remaining aligned with the restaurant’s regional Indian culinary philosophy.

Chef Faheem brings over 10 years of experience across luxury hotels and specialty dining formats. His background includes roles at JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu, Courtyard by Marriott Mumbai, and Aditya Birla New Age Hospitality. He has trained under Chef Mukhtar Qureshi and Chef Javed Qureshi and is recognised for his methodical approach to kitchen management, spanning SOP implementation, quality checks, team training, and pre-opening kitchen operations.

Prakash Chettiyar, Director of Culinary, said, “Chef Faheem brings a strong sense of discipline, clarity and purpose to the kitchen-qualities that align seamlessly with BarQat's straight-line culinary philosophy. His deep understanding of regional Indian cuisine, combined with his structured approach to kitchen operations and team development, will further strengthen BarQat's culinary identity and ensure consistent, high-quality execution.”

BarQat continues to refine its culinary programme with a sharper focus on regional Indian flavours, operational consistency, and a controlled specialty dining experience. The appointment reflects a broader industry trend where specialised restaurants within luxury hotels are placing increased emphasis on process-led kitchen leadership to support long-term quality and scalability.
