French bagel brand Bagelstein has expanded its presence in India with the opening of its fourth outlet in Bengaluru, located in Koramangala. Founded in 2011, the brand has been steadily growing its footprint in the country, with the latest launch following the recent opening of its third store in the city. The Koramangala outlet was inaugurated in the presence of Sh. Ramanalinga Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Government of Karnataka, who attended as the special guest.
Bengaluru continues to emerge as a key market for international food brands, driven by a large base of young professionals, students, entrepreneurs, and global workforces. The city’s openness to global cuisines and preference for convenient dining formats have made it a strong growth centre for premium quick-service and fast-casual concepts. Koramangala, in particular, remains one of Bengaluru’s most active neighbourhoods, known for its concentration of cafés, startups, nightlife, and high consumer footfall, making it a strategic location for the brand’s expansion.
The growing acceptance of bagels in India reflects changing consumer preferences toward formats that combine speed with quality and freshness. Bagelstein’s menu focuses on oven-fresh handcrafted bagels, a variety of fillings and spreads, sandwiches, coffees, beverages, and desserts, aligned with evolving urban consumption patterns. The brand operates in the premium fast-casual café segment, positioning itself between convenience-led dining and sit-down café experiences.
Gaurav Marya, Founder and Chairman, Franchise India, said, “Global food brands today are increasingly looking at franchising as the most efficient and scalable route to enter and expand in fast-growing markets like India. The country’s strong consumption story, young demographics, and appetite for international flavours make it a compelling destination for global QSR and café brands. Bagelstein’s consistent expansion reflects how structured franchising enables faster market penetration while maintaining brand consistency and operational excellence.”
Ravish Malhotra, Area Developer, Bagelstein – Bengaluru, added, “The response to Bagelstein in Bengaluru has been extremely encouraging. The city’s diners are open to experimenting with new formats, flavours, and premium fast-casual concepts. Koramangala, with its vibrant footfall and youthful energy, is a perfect fit for our brand. We are confident that this store will further strengthen Bagelstein’s connection with the city’s evolving café culture.”
Devrag, Unit Franchise Owner, Bagelstein – Bengaluru, said, “Being part of Bagelstein’s growth journey in Bengaluru is exciting. The brand’s strong product quality, differentiated positioning, and loyal customer response make it a compelling business opportunity. The Koramangala outlet is designed to offer a warm, energetic space where customers can enjoy great food, coffee, and a fun brand experience.”
With the addition of the Koramangala outlet, Bagelstein continues to build scale in India’s organised food service sector. The expansion highlights increasing demand for international café concepts and reinforces Bengaluru’s role as a priority market for global food and beverage brands entering or expanding in India.
