IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a franchise agreement for its first Garner hotel in Ahmedabad, with the 40-key Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera scheduled to open in 2029.
The hotel will be developed by Devpriya Buildcon and managed by United Hospitality Management (UHM) India, expanding the partnership between IHG and the third-party hotel operator. The signing is part of IHG’s plans to grow its midscale conversion-focused Garner brand across Indian markets.
The property will be located at the Motera-Sabarmati junction in North Ahmedabad, close to the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Sabarmati Bullet Train hub and nearby corporate districts. The hotel will be part of a mixed-use development featuring retail, banquet and restaurant facilities, along with a hospital.
“Ahmedabad continues to emerge as an important commercial and infrastructure growth centre, supported by strong economic activity and expanding connectivity. Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera is a meaningful addition to our India growth strategy and reflects the appeal of the brand’s model for high-potential markets. The signing also reinforces our commitment to delivering quality, reliable stays that meet the needs of today’s value-conscious travellers,” said Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts.
Garner is positioned by IHG as a midscale brand focused on essential hotel offerings, including convenient locations, accommodation and breakfast. The brand uses IHG’s operating systems and loyalty platform while allowing properties to be developed through conversion and franchise models.
Deepika Arora, Managing Director, United Hospitality Management - India, said, "We are delighted to continue strengthening our partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts through the signing of Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera. Each new signing reflects the confidence that owners place in the combined strength of IHG's globally recognised brands and UHM's local operating expertise. As our collaboration with IHG continues to grow across India, our focus remains on delivering operational excellence, enhancing long term asset performance and creating memorable guest experiences."
Prashant Thakkar, Partner, Devpriya Buildcon, said, “Ahmedabad’s economic growth, infrastructure development and rising visitor demand make it an attractive market for branded hospitality. Partnering with IHG Hotels & Resorts and United Hospitality Management to introduce Garner in Motera aligns with our vision of developing future-ready assets for modern travellers.”
The 40-room property will cater to demand generated by Ahmedabad’s commercial activity, infrastructure development and visitor traffic around Motera. The city has a diversified economic base spanning pharmaceuticals, textiles, information technology, infrastructure and corporate headquarters, while investment in sports and transport infrastructure is supporting additional hospitality demand.
The new signing adds to IHG’s existing Ahmedabad portfolio, which includes Crowne Plaza Ahmedabad City Centre and Holiday Inn Express Ahmedabad Prahlad Nagar, with Holiday Inn Ahmedabad currently in the pipeline.
IHG currently operates 53 hotels across six brands in India and has a pipeline of 110 hotels expected to open over the next 3-5 years. The company’s India portfolio includes Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, voco Hotels, Holiday Inn Resort and Holiday Inn Express.
