Fat Lulu’s Opens New Outlet at HLP Galleria, Mohali Chandigarh

Contemporary pizzeria brand Fat Lulu’s has opened a new outlet at HLP Galleria in Mohali, Chandigarh, marking its second location in Punjab as the brand expands beyond its traditional pizzeria format.

The launch comes more than 15 years after founders Deepak Datwani and Monika Batra moved from Goa to Delhi in 2010. A trip to Brooklyn that year, where they encountered family-run pizzerias focused on pizza-making as a craft, influenced the concept that later became Fat Lulu’s.

The brand opened its first outlet in Gurgaon with a focus on thin-crust, wood-fired pizzas at a time when the Indian market was largely dominated by thicker and heavily topped pizza formats. Over time, Fat Lulu’s expanded its menu and operating formats to include Neapolitan-style pizzas, grills, pastas and beverages.

Its restaurant formats have also diversified. The Khan Market outlet combines the pizzeria with a bar, while the Paragon Waterfront outlet in Ludhiana operates as a café and bar with pizzas, pastas, grills and other cuisines.

The new Chandigarh outlet takes a more bar-led approach, with an all-evening format focused on food, beverages and music. Alongside its pizzas, the menu includes Mexican-inspired dishes, tacos, burgers, grills, cheese boards, pastas and mains, supported by a full bar programme.

The Chandigarh location is the brand’s second outlet in Punjab after Ludhiana. While the Ludhiana restaurant established Fat Lulu’s in the state through its café-and-bar format, the new outlet expands the model with a broader food and beverage offering and programming aimed at evening visits.

The outlet will host recurring DJ nights and Friday events following its opening, adding entertainment-led programming to its food and beverage operations.

The expansion reflects Fat Lulu’s broader shift from a single-format pizzeria into multiple restaurant concepts, allowing the brand to adapt its proposition across different markets while retaining thin-crust, wood-fired pizzas as a core part of its menu.
