Dakshinayan Enters Goregaon East With New Restaurant

Dakshinayan has expanded its Mumbai presence with a new outlet at Oberoi Garden City, Goregaon East, adding to the South Indian restaurant brand’s network across Mumbai, Thane and Ahmedabad.

The new Goregaon outlet is part of the family-run brand’s next phase of expansion. Founded by Beena and Hemul Gandhi, Dakshinayan has operated for more than two decades, with its business built around South Indian cuisine and a recurring customer base.

The expansion is also bringing the next generation of the Gandhi family into the business. Dhruman Jayant Gandhi, Promoter, is working on strengthening systems and processes as the brand prepares for further growth, with Vir and Darshan Gandhi also involved in the business. “Dakshinayan has always been deeply rooted in family, and as we look ahead, our focus is on building the right foundation for growth while staying true to what people love about the brand. It is exciting to see the next generation bring their own ideas and energy while carrying forward what our family has built over the years.”

The Goregaon menu continues with several of Dakshinayan’s established dishes, including Thatte Idli, Molgapodi Idli, Rasam Vada, Rava Masala Dosai, Ven Pongal, Puliyodharai and Bisibelle Hulianna. The offering covers a range of South Indian preparations across breakfast, meals and snack-led occasions.

The new restaurant has also been designed with a more contemporary interior format, featuring brick-clad walls, pendant lighting, wooden detailing, Tanjore artwork and Kolam-inspired elements. The space is positioned to serve both weekday dining and family occasions.

Beena and Hemul Gandhi said, “Every Dakshinayan has always been built around one simple idea: to create a place people keep coming back to. As we looked at where to grow next, Goregaon felt like the natural choice. It’s one of Mumbai’s fastest-evolving neighbourhoods, with thriving workplaces, growing residential communities and people who truly enjoy eating out. We wanted to create a space that could be part of someone’s everyday routine as much as their weekend tradition.”
