Bombay Island is set to open its new Andheri outlet on September 9, expanding its cafe presence with a 60-seater format centred on specialty coffee, vegetarian food and an all-day dining menu.
The Andheri outlet, described as “Island 2.0: Transformation”, takes design cues from the coffee roasting process. The concept draws from Bombay’s seven islands, with the new outlet focusing on the transformation of green coffee beans through roasting.
Founded by Rupal Jain, Bombay Island began as a roastery in Malad in 2018. Jain trained with the Coffee Board of India before travelling to Singapore to study coffee roasting, sourcing and specialty coffee. The brand launched its first cafe at The Trees, Vikhroli, in 2021.
The Andheri outlet will offer an entirely vegetarian food menu covering breakfast, brunch, lunch and coffee breaks. Dishes include Caprese Burrata Sandwich, Mediterranean Sandwich, Hazelnut Butter Banana Sourdough, Beet Hummus & Feta Toast, Truffle Mushroom Tagliatelle, Pomodoro Spaghetti and Sundried Tomato Hummus & Falafel Bowl.
The bakery section will include croissants, cookies, tea cakes and desserts, including Orange Almond Tea Cake, Banana Walnut Bread, Bombay Island Tiramisu, cheesecakes and brownies.
Coffee will remain the central part of the offering, with hot and cold signatures such as Maple Coconut Latte, Maple Cinnamon Latte, Black Sesame Latte, Mont Blanc and Tiramisu Cold Brew. The menu also includes Espresso, Americano, V60 Pour Over, Cappuccino, Flat White, Cortado, Iced Americano, Iced Pour Over, Iced Mocha and Cold Brew Classic.
The beverage menu extends to matcha, kombucha, hot and cold chocolate and signature cold brew tea. The Andheri location will also introduce a Coffee Omakase Experience featuring a guided tasting of specialty coffees from India.
“At Bombay Island, we've always believed that great coffee shouldn't feel intimidating or reserved for special occasions. We want it to become part of people's everyday lives. Every café we open is an opportunity to create a space where people feel welcome, where quality speaks for itself, and where coffee remains at the centre of everything we do,” says Rupal Jain, Founder, Bombay Island.
The 60-seater outlet will feature an Island Brew Bar at its centre, with seating designed around the coffee preparation area. The cafe will also combine specialty coffee with fine fragrance by Kimirica, creating an experiential retail format around the two categories. The new outlet adds another location to Bombay Island’s cafe business while continuing its original roastery-led focus on specialty coffee.
