The Powder Room Opens in Bandra with MediterrAsian Food, Cocktails and Afro Jazz

The Powder Room has opened in Bandra, Mumbai, bringing together food, cocktails, music and social dining in a relaxed setting.

Located at Mansionz One on Linking Road, Bandra West, the new dinner and cocktail club features a MediterrAsian menu by Chef Sahil Singh and a cocktail programme curated by Anonymous Food Labs, the team behind The Lair in New Delhi and AABBCC.

Designed by Sumessh Menon Associates, The Powder Room draws inspiration from Sub-Saharan art and craftsmanship. Textured artwork, earthy marble, animal-print upholstery and a statement chandelier create an intimate setting, while handcrafted lighting and an evolving Afro-jazz soundtrack complete the experience.

The menu follows The Powder Room’s MediterAsian approach, combining Asian and Mediterranean flavours with unconventional ingredients. Cocktails such as Forbidden Grove, Burnt Fashioned, Rosa del Mare and The Pink Phoenix feature elements including clarified cherry tomato, shiitake-infused whisky, mezcal, pandan, cacao butter and citrus.

Speaking about the concept, Avik Chatterjee, Director & CEO, Speciality Restaurants Limited, says, “The Powder Room is built around the idea of bringing the Mediterranean and Asia together through food, cocktails, design and music. It has been the result of a year-long journey of research, exploration and understanding of these two food cultures, which ultimately led us to introducing a first of its kind MediterAsian cuisine to India. Africa sits naturally between these worlds and has historically connected them through trade, ingredients and cultural exchange. We wanted to interpret that relationship in a contemporary way and create a destination where every element feels connected, layered and immersive.”

The cocktail menu traces the origins of key ingredients, from Turkish Delight and Indian Musa Velutina to Chinese orange blossom, Japanese yuzu, Philippine muscovado and Spanish calendula. A dedicated zero-proof selection also offers alcohol-free cocktails focused on flavour and technique.

Chef Sahil Singh adds, “The menu at The Powder Room explores the natural relationship between Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. We combine the character of Mediterranean cooking with the precision, techniques and bold flavours of Asia. Africa becomes the bridge between the two, bringing an additional layer of spice, fire and earthiness to the experience.”

The experience extends beyond food and drinks, with playful touches including an Achi game that gives guests a chance to win a complimentary Zaatar Picante shot, along with an illustrated dessert menu.
