Bhagini Hospitalities Enters South Indian Tiffin Segment With Chola Tiffin House

Bhagini Hospitalities Private Limited has entered the South Indian tiffin segment with the launch of Chola Tiffin House in Marathahalli, Bengaluru. The new concept combines a self-service restaurant model with a menu focused on traditional South Indian breakfast and tiffin dishes.

The format is designed around quick service, freshly prepared food and accessible pricing, targeting everyday dining occasions rather than a conventional full-service restaurant experience. Its menu includes idli, vada, dosa, pongal and other South Indian tiffin staples.

R S Dharmendra, COO, Bhagini Hospitalities Private Limited, said, “South Indian tiffin is much more than a meal. It is part of our everyday culture and a food tradition that generations have grown up with. With Chola Tiffin House, we wanted to take that familiarity and present it in a format that works for today’s consumer — fresh, fast, simple and accessible.”

The operating model places emphasis on self-service and faster table turnover. The company is targeting office-goers, students, residents and families in Marathahalli, an area with residential communities, technology companies and educational institutions.

Dharmendra added, “We are not trying to reinvent South Indian food. We are trying to respect what already works and build a contemporary format around it. The focus is on the basics — good food, consistency, speed and value. That is what we believe will make Chola Tiffin House relevant to the modern consumer.”

The concept is intended to support frequent visits across breakfast, lunch and evening tiffin occasions. Rather than focusing on an elaborate dining environment, the format prioritises quick ordering, self-service and operational efficiency.

“For us, the opportunity lies in making South Indian food a high-frequency food category without losing its identity,” Dharmendra said. “Consumers today want authenticity, but they also want convenience. Chola Tiffin House is our response to that intersection.”

Chola Tiffin House is the latest addition to Bhagini Hospitalities’ food and hospitality portfolio in Bengaluru. The company operates across hotels and restaurant formats, with brands including Icon Hotels, Telugu Vilas, Proxy Bar & Kitchen, The Andhra Grand and Bhagini Kitchen & Bar.

With the new concept, Bhagini Hospitalities is testing a more streamlined restaurant model in the South Indian tiffin category, with operational efficiency, value and repeat consumption forming the core of the format. The company sees scope to expand the concept beyond the first outlet as it establishes its operating model and customer proposition.
