Bastian Hospitality Launches Janu by Blondie in Mumbai

Bastian Hospitality has expanded its presence in Mumbai’s food and beverage sector with the launch of Janu by Blondie, a new all-day café concept located on Juhu Tara Road. Opened on 15 July 2026, the outlet introduces an Indian-focused café format that combines regional flavours, speciality beverages and retail offerings within a single space.

Developed by the team behind Bastian Hospitality and Shilpa Shetty, Janu is positioned as an extension of the Blondie brand with a stronger focus on Indian flavours and café-style dining. The concept is designed to operate throughout the day, serving breakfast, coffee, snacks, meals and cocktails.

The menu centres on Indian-inspired dishes adapted for a contemporary café environment. Offerings include Raj Kachori Chaat, Palak Patta Chaat, Superfood Salad, Black Dal with Khameeri, Zaffreno Pasta, Malaiyo and Apple Jalebi. The selection spans chaat, comfort food, lighter meals and desserts, catering to different dining occasions throughout the day.

The beverage programme features speciality coffee, matcha-based drinks and cocktails. Signature beverages include the Rasmalai Matcha and Rasgulla Tiramisu Latte, while the cocktail menu includes Salted Mosambi Paloma and Don’t Jinx It. The café also includes a retail section offering coffee, matcha and other take-home products.

According to the company, the concept reflects changing consumer preferences for flexible dining formats that combine food, beverages and social experiences in a single location.

Ranjit Bindra, Founder, Bastian Hospitality, said, "With Janu, we wanted to celebrate much-loved Indian food through the lens of a modern neighbourhood café. It builds on everything we have learnt with Blondie while creating a destination that is distinctly Indian, approachable and designed for every moment of the day. Janu adds a new dimension to the Bastian Hospitality portfolio, creating a destination that is distinctly Indian, approachable and designed to fit naturally into the rhythm of everyday life and can become a regular part of the way people experience their neighbourhood."

Natasha Hemani, Brand Director, Blondie, said, "Every detail at Janu, from the menu and beverages to the design and retail collection, has been brought together to give the brand its own personality. The food offers unexpected takes on dishes people already have a connection with, while the coffee, matcha and take-home products allow Janu to live beyond the café. We wanted every interaction with the brand to feel unmistakably Janu."

The launch highlights a broader trend within India’s café market, where operators are increasingly exploring all-day formats that blend dining, speciality beverages and retail experiences. With its Indian-focused menu and flexible service model, Janu enters Mumbai’s competitive café segment as hospitality brands continue to diversify beyond traditional restaurant concepts.
