Adani Airports Partners with IHCL to Expand Hotel Infrastructure in Guwahati

Guwahati is set to add three major hotel brands to its hospitality market, with Taj, Gateway and Ginger expected to establish properties in the city under a partnership between Adani Airports and Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL). Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the development on Friday, linking the planned investments to the state's growing aviation, tourism and commercial activity.

In a post on X, Sarma said the entry of established hospitality brands reflected increasing investor interest in Assam. "Big brands follow big opportunities and increasingly, they are coming to Assam," CM Sarma said.

The proposed hotel developments are part of the Adani Airports-IHCL partnership focused on hospitality spaces. According to the Chief Minister, the projects are expected to support Guwahati's position as an aviation and commercial hub for the Northeast, while adding accommodation capacity for business travellers, tourists and transit passengers.

The announcement comes as Guwahati continues to serve as a key connectivity point for the region through Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. The expansion of aviation infrastructure and passenger movement is creating demand for supporting hospitality facilities, particularly hotels catering to different traveller segments.

Sarma said the planned investments reflected rising passenger traffic, tourism activity and business opportunities in Assam. The developments also indicate growing private-sector interest in the state's hospitality market, supported by its tourism potential and strategic location as a gateway to the northeastern region.

With the proposed entry of Taj, Gateway and Ginger, Guwahati is expected to strengthen its hotel supply across multiple market segments as aviation connectivity and commercial activity continue to expand.
