Kallol Banerjee is the Co-founder at Rebel Foods (formerly Faasos). Incorporated in 2011,
Faasos was started with the vision of becoming the largest food technology business in the
country.
Kallol pursued his graduation as a Mechanical Engineer in 1995 from Jadavpur University
Kolkata. Post this, he went on to pursue his MBA from IIM Lucknow where he met his future
co-founder Jaydeep (Barman). Both Jaydeep and Kallol then worked for a few startups in Pune
before leaving for INSEAD (France) in the year 2007 to pursue another Management program. In
his last stint before joining Jaydeep to start Faasos in 2011, Kallol worked with Bosch in
Singapore.
Kallol has been a key tour-de-force in expanding the company from a wrap-n-meals restaurant
to the largest food technology business in the country today. He has donned several hats
mostly with a view to course correct or start new initiatives. These have involved new city
openings nationally and internationally (when they were being done for the first time),
besides taking on leadership roles in Finance, Admin, Supply chain, operations. In all of
these roles his approach has always been hands-on and his ability to quickly learn, identify
and focus on the areas of maximum impact have been demonstrated time and again.
This has in turns become the operating philosophy for Rebel Foods. Kallol’s target has
always been to offer standardized tastes, large variety and scalable consistency at an
affordable cost. A quirky, fun-loving individual and a non-conformist by nature, Kallol has
been ingenious in marrying internet with the food and restaurant business, quite like how
mobile had leapfrogged the expansion of landline telephony in India.
