Restaurant India News: Yazu Goes Global, Opens First International Outlet in Galle, Srilanka

Yazu has announced its international debut with the opening of Yazu Galle at the Radisson Blu Resort Galle at Srilanka. This marks the brand’s first restaurant outside India and a major milestone in its expansion journey.

Located along the beachfront in Galle, the new outlet offers a mix of Japanese, Thai, and Cantonese cuisines, along with a creative cocktail programme and a distinctive design-led dining experience overlooking the Indian Ocean. Founded by Ranbir Singh Nagpal and Atul Chopra, Yazu has built a strong presence across Indian cities such as Mumbai, Goa, Indore, Chandigarh, and Bangalore. Known for its focus on authentic flavours, technique, and modern presentation, the brand has gained a loyal following.

The launch of Yazu Galle at 523C Colombo Road, Ginthota, signals the brand’s first step into international markets, highlighting its ambition to grow beyond India and establish a global presence.

“Our entry into Sri Lanka with Yazu Galle marks a defining milestone for the brand as we take our first step beyond India. Galle, with its unique blend of cultural depth and global appeal, offers the perfect setting for our international debut. With Yazu, we aim to introduce a refined Pan-Asian dining experience that seamlessly brings together authenticity, innovation, and high-energy hospitality creating a destination that resonates with both global travellers and the evolving local audience,” said Ranbir Singh Nagpal, Founder & CEO, Yazu Hospitality.

Designed by acclaimed designer Sumessh Menon, Yazu Galle has been created as a tropical Asian-inspired dining space set within the Radisson Blu Resort Galle. Located along the beachfront, the restaurant offers a setting that blends scenic ocean views with an intimate dining atmosphere.

The design takes inspiration from simple, rustic eateries found in rural parts of Asia, with a focus on warm, natural materials. The space features a prefabricated timber structure, along with extensive use of wood and woven cane elements. The bar area is highlighted by custom-made cane pendant lights detailed with jute and wooden beads, while a finely crafted wooden entrance door adds a distinctive touch.

“At Yazu, our focus has always been on creating a dining experience that is both refined and relevant to today’s audience. With Yazu Galle, we bring together authentic Pan-Asian flavours, a strong cocktail program, and a vibrant atmosphere in a setting that naturally complements the brand. Sri Lanka is an exciting market for us, and this marks an important step in expanding Yazu’s footprint while staying true to our core philosophy,” added Atul Chopra, Partner, Yazu Hospitality

Under the culinary direction of Chef Ranjan Thapa, the kitchen operates across multiple disciplines simultaneously, each executed with the precision the Yazu name demands. Inspired by the rhythm of the coast, the Yazu Galle Cocktail Edit, conceived to bridge Japanese precision with the laid-back energy of Galle, is one of the most distinctive bar programmes to arrive in Sri Lanka.  Led by mixologist Sudesh Suvarna, the menu is organised into chapters, each with its own character and intent. The Radisson Blu Resort Galle with a long-standing reputation as one of Sri Lanka’s southern coast’s most celebrated luxury destinations aligns naturally with Yazu’s positioning as a brand that refuses to compromise on setting or experience.

Talking about the partnership, Bob Kundanmal, Chairman, Sino Lanka Hotels Holding Ltd, said, “We are delighted to partner with Yazu Hospitality to bring this exceptional Pan-Asian concept to Radisson Blu Resort Galle. Sri Lanka has always embraced diverse culinary experiences, and Yazu’s refined approach, combined with its strong brand identity, adds a new dimension to our dining offerings. We are confident that Yazu Galle will set a new benchmark in the region, enhancing the resort’s positioning as a premier lifestyle and dining destination on the southern coast.”
