After a successful venture in Baner, The Gulmohar Bar & Curry House has opened its second Pune outpost in Koregaon Park’s Lane 7, bringing contemporary Indian food and cocktails inspired by regional diversity, nostalgia, and everyday comfort.
Owned by Harsh Agarwal and Umang Bhimrajka, the 3,000 sq. ft., 120-seater is designed as a relaxed, all-day neighbourhood escape. The space is designed by Natasha and Parzan Daruwala of Studio 1658, Bandra which reflects Pune’s easy-going spirit through earthy greens and terracotta, natural stone, teak, bamboo, and exposed brick. Influences of late architect Geoffrey Bawa is seen in the seamless indoor–outdoor flow, relaxed layouts, and tropical modern detailing.
Speaking about the opening, Harsh Agarwal, Co-Founder, says, “The name Gulmohar is drawn from what the tree itself represents - simplicity with quiet grandeur, an icon deeply rooted in memory. Much like its season of bloom, The Gulmohar stands for nostalgia, good timesand moments meant to be shared and returned to."
Umang Bhimrajka, Co-Founder, shares, “The Gulmohar is a comfortable, proudly Indian space you can return to often, whether for downtime or celebration. The space is designed to fit into the rhythm of your week, not just your weekend.”
The menu, curated by award-winning Chef Shailendra Kekade, reinterprets Indian regional cuisine beyond traditional North–South boundaries for everyday dining. Highlights include kale and spicy peach chaat, Wai Thai Noodles, Burrata and Bhang, chakhna-style plates like Kaju Usali with Goli Baje and Kharda Mutton, and tandoor and grill favourites such as kathal seekh kebab, galoutis, pathar ka murgh, and Bombay Duck.
There is a Curry House Extravaganza, featuring Indian classics and Southeast Asian curries tailored to Indian palates, including Nihari, Gongura Mamsam, Sri Lankan roasted pineapple curry, and Bengali Sorshe Maach. With millets used across breads and biryanis, the menu balances flavour with a thoughtful approach to wellness.
Speaking about the menu, Chef Shailendra Kekade says, “The Gulmohar is meant to feel like a small break in the middle of the city. The food celebrates regional Indian flavours in a way that feels familiar, light and easy to enjoy every day.”
Completing the offering is Guls Café, a compact café menu featuring India-inspired sandos and a focused filter coffee programme, served daily till 7.30 pm. The cocktail programme at The Gulmohar is a defining element of the experience, built around ingredients from across Indian states and bound together by one common thread, nostalgia. Global cocktail structures are reinterpreted through Indian flavours to create drinks that connect emotionally before they impress technically.
