Restaurant India News: The Fern Hotels Marks Earth Day with Tree Plantation Across 60 Properties

The Fern Hotels & Resorts carried out a large-scale tree plantation activity across its network on Earth Day, signalling continued focus on sustainability-led operations within the hospitality sector. The initiative, conducted on April 22, covered 60 properties across India and resulted in the planting of over 1,300 saplings.

The move reflects the brand’s operational approach, where environmental practices are integrated into day-to-day functioning rather than limited to one-off campaigns. The plantation activity was executed at the property level, with hotel teams participating in coordinated efforts to contribute to local environmental conditions.

Suhail Kannampilly, Managing Director of The Fern Hotels & Resorts, said, “Sustainability is something we practice every day across our hotels, not just on occasions. This Earth Day, seeing 60 of our properties come together to plant over 1,300 saplings was truly special. It’s a simple step, but one that contributes to greener surroundings in the communities we operate in. As we continue to grow, our focus remains clear building hotels that are environmentally responsible while delivering meaningful experiences to our guests.”

Such initiatives align with the broader shift towards ESG-driven hospitality models, where operators are increasingly expected to demonstrate measurable environmental action. By involving on-ground teams and focusing on scalable activities, hotel chains are looking to balance guest experience with sustainability commitments.

The Fern’s approach indicates a continued emphasis on integrating environmental responsibility into expansion strategies, while maintaining consistent engagement at the property level.
