Restaurant India News: Tata Starbucks Launches Single-Origin Indian Coffees from Coorg’s Estates

Tata Starbucks is brewing a new chapter in India’s coffee story with the launch of its first estate-exclusive single-origin whole bean coffees. Sourced from three well-known estates, including Nullore, Margolly, and Karadibetta in Coorg, Karnataka, the range marks the brand’s push to highlight India’s rich coffee-growing heritage.

Following the success of its India Estates Blend, Tata Starbucks has launched these single-origin whole beans, capturing the flavor and character of Coorg’s hills and long-standing farming traditions.

The three estates each bring something unique to the cup. Nullore Estate, located at 910 meters in Madikeri, produces Arabica beans known for their balanced sweetness and subtle notes of red apple and sesame flower. Margolly Estate, established in the 1850s, grows washed Arabica with hints of Barhi date, cinnamon bark, and a honeyed finish, a reflection of its rain-fed slopes and thick forest canopy. Higher up, at 1,000 meters, Karadibetta Estate’s Arabica beans offer a lively mix of jamun plum, ginger, and tulsi, shaped by the estate’s rich biodiversity.

The packaging features illustrations inspired by Coorg’s wildlife, from the Grey Hornbill of Nullore to the elephants that wander through Margolly, connecting the coffee to the ecosystem it grows in.

Speaking about the launch, Mitali Maheshwari, Head of Product & Marketing, Tata Starbucks, said, “India’s coffee origins carry the rich legacy of their people, with stories spanning centuries. We’re proud to share the distinct flavors and craftsmanship of Coorg through these iconic estates that have been harvested for the first time for Tata Starbucks. Each single-origin coffee in this range reflects its unique terroir, biodiversity, and the passion of its farmers, brought to life in every cup.”

Part of Starbucks’ global lineup of estate coffees from Africa, Asia Pacific, and Latin America, the Indian single-origin range underscores the company’s focus on promoting local specialty estates. The Nullore, Margolly, and Karadibetta Whole Bean Coffees are available across select Starbucks stores in India, starting at INR 495 for a 150g pack.
