Restaurant India News: Swiggy Elevates Akhil Juluru and Ashwin Chand to Director Roles

Swiggy has elevated two senior executives, Akhil Juluru and Ashwin Chand, to Director-level positions as the company continues to strengthen its leadership structure across its food marketplace business.

The appointments were announced separately by the executives through LinkedIn posts and reflect Swiggy’s continued focus on leadership development and internal talent progression as it expands its food delivery and commerce operations.

Akhil Juluru has been promoted to Director – Business within Swiggy’s Food Marketplace division. Announcing the development, Juluru wrote, “New Chapter: Director - Business at Swiggy! I’m incredibly excited to share my promotion within the Food Marketplace business.”

Prior to this elevation, Juluru served as General Manager – Business, where he was involved in driving business growth initiatives and marketplace strategy. In his new role, he is expected to oversee key business priorities and contribute to the continued expansion of Swiggy’s food marketplace operations.

In a separate leadership move, Ashwin Chand has been promoted to Director of Business after serving as General Manager – Discounting Strategy. Chand has been associated with Swiggy for more than seven years, having joined the company in January 2019.

During his tenure, Chand played a significant role in shaping the company's discounting framework and broader business strategy initiatives. Before joining Swiggy, he worked with ride-hailing platform Ola, gaining experience in large-scale consumer technology operations.

The promotions come at a time when food delivery platforms are increasingly focusing on operational efficiency, customer retention, restaurant partnerships and sustainable growth. As competition intensifies across food delivery and quick commerce segments, leadership continuity and internal capability building have become key priorities for major players in the sector.

Swiggy remains one of the most influential marketplace platforms, connecting millions of consumers with restaurant partners across India.
