Restaurant India News: ORLO Launches in Hyderabad With a Dual Dining Format and Regional Indian Focus

ORLO – The Indian Cuisine Restaurant has opened as a new dining concept built around connection, shared meals, and a familiar approach to Indian hospitality. Conceived as an intimate and welcoming space, ORLO is designed around the idea of offering food and service that feel recognisable and rooted in everyday Indian dining culture. The restaurant’s name reflects the sentiment of “Aur lo,” a gesture associated with abundance and inclusion.

The brand is guided by three principles that shape its food identity. It positions itself as a community-focused space where regional cuisines bring people together. Its menu prioritises honest, straightforward cooking grounded in Indian culinary traditions, and the overall dining experience highlights vibrant flavours and varied textures drawn from different parts of the country.

ORLO operates with a dual model that shifts between lunch and dinner. During the day, the restaurant offers a mess-style service with quick, substantial meals inspired by regional food traditions from Punjab, Rajasthan, Bengal and Assam. These dishes rotate on a daily basis to introduce variety while maintaining a familiar structure.

In the evening, ORLO transitions into a highball bar and à la carte dining space. The nighttime setting is designed to support casual gatherings, extended meals and late-night socialising, with views of the Cable Bridge and Durgam Cheruvu. The bar focuses on drinks described as “high on India,” drawing from local influences such as quarter bottles from thekas, sodas associated with paan shops and banta-style beverages. The cocktails use regional spirits paired with house-made mixers for a straightforward and nostalgic drinking experience.

ORLO is part of Vikksit Hospitality, which follows a philosophy it calls “Intentional Hospitality,” centred on attention, empathy and creating genuine guest interactions. The group aims to build concepts that prioritise community and meaningful engagement over transactional service. ORLO is one of several projects planned by Vikksit within the same development, each intended to reflect this approach.

The founders behind ORLO bring varied backgrounds to the venture. Vickas Passary, founder of Vikksit Hospitality, has previously launched restaurants including MOB, Little Italy and So. The Sky Kitchen. Along with his wife Vinita Passary, he also cofounded Translate | Ikat India, a textile brand dedicated to supporting traditional handwoven Ikat. The two also launched Anonym, a boutique retail concept featuring independent Indian design.

Ashwini Maisekar, a Chartered Accountant with prior experience in finance, investment banking and fund management, transitioned to hospitality with the goal of creating people-oriented spaces. She focuses on operations and guest experiences that reflect warmth and openness.

Kshitij Bhuraria, an IHM Mumbai and GBC Toronto alumnus, brings six years of hospitality experience from India and Canada, with roles at The Taj Mahal Palace, Café Coffee Day, Swiss Chalet and Pickle Barrel. His work with Vikksit focuses on developing contemporary restaurant experiences shaped by global exposure.

Dhruv Agarwal comes from a background in investment banking and private equity. His move into hospitality is driven by a preference for building consumer-facing spaces. He contributes strategic and operational expertise to projects aimed at developing strong guest engagement and long-term brand value.

ORLO is positioned as a modern Indian dining format that blends daytime comfort with evening social energy, offering Hyderabad a flexible, regional, and community-oriented experience.
