Nasi and Mee, a long-established player in India’s Southeast Asian dining segment, has opened a new restaurant at Nexus Shantiniketan, Whitefield. The launch marks the brand’s sixth outlet in Bengaluru and its 10th restaurant nationally, coinciding with 10 years of operations since its inception in 2015. The opening also signals the brand’s return to Whitefield after a gap of nearly six years, positioning the location as both a strategic and symbolic milestone.
The Whitefield restaurant is the first in the Nasi and Mee portfolio to feature a dedicated outdoor dining area. This element has been integrated into the overall spatial design, which focuses on visual storytelling inspired by Southeast Asian street food culture. The interiors feature large-format illustrated murals influenced by food streets and market environments across cities such as Bangkok, Singapore, Hanoi, and Penang. These artworks are designed to create continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces, supported by the use of mirrors to enhance openness and circulation within the restaurant.
The space includes multiple mural installations depicting everyday street-side food scenes, including noodle stalls, hawker counters, and traditional shophouses. Details such as alley cats and narrow market lanes have been incorporated to reflect the informal, lived-in nature of Southeast Asian food districts. Natural materials including rattan furniture, cane-accented lighting, and tropical greenery have been used to soften the structure and maintain visual consistency with the outdoor seating area.
To coincide with the opening, the brand has introduced a limited-time menu titled Simply Sedap. The menu brings together select legacy dishes alongside newer additions, drawing from multiple Southeast Asian cuisines. Offerings include Xiao Long Bao in truffle chicken and truffle asparagus variants, Chai Tow Kway inspired by Singaporean hawker food, Indonesian-style Ayam Penyet, Massaman Curry, Wonton Mee, and Kaya Bun. The menu has been positioned as a retrospective and forward-facing selection, reflecting the brand’s evolution over the past decade.
Dilip Krishnan, Co-founder and India CEO, Foodsta Kitchens, parent company of Nasi and Mee, said, “Opening our 10th restaurant in the year we complete 10 years makes this Whitefield launch especially meaningful for us. It’s also incredibly special to be back in a neighbourhood that played an important role in our early journey in Bengaluru. Nexus Shantiniketan gives us the perfect setting to celebrate this milestone.”
The restaurant has a seating capacity of 79 covers and is expected to cater to Whitefield’s mixed residential and corporate catchment. The launch reflects a continued focus on experiential dining formats combined with menu-led brand recall. With this opening, Nasi and Mee reinforces its long-term presence in Bengaluru while aligning its physical format and menu strategy with changing consumer expectations in organised casual dining.
