Restaurant India News: Indian Street Food QSR Puchkaman Launches First Overseas Store in Toronto

Puchkaman, an Indian street-food-focused quick service restaurant brand, has entered the international market with the launch of its first overseas outlet in Scarborough, Toronto. The expansion marks a significant step in the brand’s growth strategy, positioning Indian street food within a structured QSR format for global markets.

Founded in 2018 by Sujoy Bose and Saikat Sk, Puchkaman was created to address operational challenges associated with traditional street food, including hygiene, standardisation, and scalability. Over the years, the brand has expanded across multiple cities in India by adapting popular street food formats into a controlled and repeatable business model. The Canada launch extends this approach to North America, where demand for Indian flavours continues to grow across both diaspora and local consumers.

The brand’s development has been supported by early backing from Jayeeta Mitra and mentorship and investment from Binod Homagai, Co-Founder of Wow! Momo. This association has contributed operational expertise and QSR-specific insight to Puchkaman’s expansion plans, particularly in areas such as standard operating procedures, franchising, and outlet-level execution.

Puchkaman follows a franchise-led growth model designed to keep entry barriers relatively low while supporting rapid expansion. The model focuses on standardised kitchen processes, high repeat consumption, and ease of scale across different geographies. According to the company, the format allows for quick setup, structured operational support, and a return model suited to small and mid-sized food entrepreneurs.

With the Toronto outlet positioned as its international entry point, Puchkaman is now targeting further partnerships in India and overseas markets. The move reflects a broader trend of Indian street food brands transitioning into global QSR formats, driven by rising international demand for authentic yet operationally consistent Indian food concepts.
