Good Farmer Food Concepts, the company behind artisanal coffee brand Maverick & Farmer Coffee and fast-casual concept Square Burgers & Co., has raised $1.5 million in an ongoing Pre-Series A funding round. This marks the company’s first external capital raise and is led by investment firm CreedCap, with participation from Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna, former Indian cricket team captain Rahul Dravid, and Meraki Sport & Entertainment.
The company plans to deploy the funds to expand its café footprint nationally, invest in research and development as well as production infrastructure, and scale its retail-focused vertical. The retail business is centred on developing multiple SKUs of specialty coffee roasts and strengthening the home-brewing category through curated equipment offerings. New café locations are planned in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Goa, and Bangalore. At present, the company operates seven outlets across Bangalore and Goa and expects this number to reach ten by the end of the year.
Founded by Ashish D’abreo, Sreeram Gangadharan, and Tej Thammaiah, Good Farmer Food Concepts follows a product-led approach with a focus on quality and innovation. Its portfolio combines experimental coffee-led retail, community-driven café formats, and a health-oriented fast food concept. Maverick & Farmer is positioned around experimentation within Indian coffee, while Square Burgers & Co. continues to scale as a health-first quick service brand.
Sreeram Gangadharan, Co-founder, Good Farmer Food Concepts, said, “Before expanding, we first ensured that our people and operations were completely in order. Once that foundation was set, we began exploring funding and new locations. From the outset, we knew that each Maverick & Farmer Café should tell its own story and connect with a unique community. With Square Burgers, our vision was clear—we wanted to experiment with health-forward fast food. The current round of funding has enabled us to bring these ideas to life.”
Rohan Bopanna has been associated with the brand over the years and previously collaborated on a signature product, the Rohan Bopanna Masterblend. Rahul Dravid joins the company’s cap table for the first time, aligning with his interest in businesses built on operational discipline and long-term fundamentals.
Bopanna said, “I’ve watched Maverick & Farmer grow from the very beginning and what’s always stood out to me is the honesty and intent behind the brand. Their commitment to quality, experimentation and staying true to their roots is rare. I’m proud to continue supporting their journey and excited to be part of what's in store next.”
Founded in 2021, Maverick & Farmer operates as a farm-to-cup coffee company with a 140-acre estate in Pollibetta, Coorg, where product development and coffee experimentation are carried out. The brand currently runs four cafés in Bangalore—Ulsoor, Koramangala, Cunningham Road, and Yelahanka—and two in Goa at Anjuna and Panjim, along with a Square Burgers & Co. outlet at the Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence.
Beyond its café network, Maverick & Farmer has established a B2B business supplying coffee to brands such as Second Cup Coffee, Magnolia Bakery, Courtyard Marriott, Coworks India, Lavonne, and Boston Consulting Group. The company also sells directly to consumers through its own website, positioning retail and hospitality as parallel growth engines going forward.
