Restaurant India News: Godawan Triple Cask Enters Mumbai and Delhi Duty-Free in Strategic Retail Expansion

Diageo India has extended the availability of its artisanal single malt brand Godawan by introducing the Godawan Triple Cask Travel Exclusive expression to Mumbai and Delhi duty-free outlets. The variant, created specifically for the global travel retail channel, is now available in Mumbai and Delhi alongside Dubai and Bangalore Duty-Free, strengthening the brand’s footprint in high-traffic airport markets.

Launched in 2022, Godawan operates around three core pillars: craftsmanship, mindful luxury, and conscious consumption. The portfolio currently comprises five expressions – Godawan 01, Godawan 02, Limited Edition Godawan 100, Limited Edition Godawan Single Malt Exclusive to the Palaces of Taj, Godawan Triple Cask Travel Exclusive, and the recently launched Limited-Edition Godawan 173. The brand has secured over 100+ international awards and has positioned itself among India’s most recognized single malts in global competitions. At the International Taste Institute’s Superior Taste Awards 2026, Godawan 01, Godawan 02, and Godawan 173 were each awarded Triple Gold, the highest distinction by the institute.

Named after the critically endangered Great Indian Bustard, Godawan integrates conservation into its brand narrative, with each bottle contributing toward habitat preservation initiatives in Rajasthan. From a hospitality and retail perspective, this sustainability positioning aligns with the growing demand for purpose-led premium spirits within international travel hubs.

The Godawan Triple Cask Travel Exclusive is produced at the Alwar distillery in Rajasthan. The expression is matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in PX sherry, virgin oak, and cherry wood casks. Bottled at 46 percent ABV in a 700ml format, the whisky presents a golden-brown profile with floral and fruity aromas, a sweet palate texture, and a balanced wood finish. Priced at approximately Rs 5,500, the expression targets the premium gifting and collector segment within airport retail environments.

For airport retailers and hospitality stakeholders, travel-exclusive releases offer a differentiated SKU strategy that drives impulse purchase, gifting behavior, and higher average transaction values. By focusing on limited-channel availability, brands can leverage consumer moments of travel, celebration, and discovery to enhance perceived exclusivity.

Vikram Damodaran, Chief Innovation Officer, Diageo India, said, “With our presence now expanding across key global travel retail markets, these channels allow us to engage with consumers at moments of discovery, where gifting, collecting, and connection naturally come together. By creating expressions that are both collectable and culturally rooted, Godawan continues to position Indian whisky as a definitive voice of craftsmanship in the world’s most connected spaces. The Godawan Triple Cask Travel Exclusive brings a new dimension of flavour and depth. For a brand shaped by terroir and storytelling, this format helps us carry the spirit of Rajasthan to a broader global audience in a way that is personal, purposeful, and proudly Indian.”

Industry analysts note that premium Indian single malts are increasingly leveraging travel retail as a strategic growth channel. With international passenger numbers rising and airport retail evolving into an experiential shopping environment, differentiated expressions such as Godawan Triple Cask strengthen India’s presence in the global premium whisky category while supporting margin expansion in duty-free formats.
