International fast-casual brand German Doner Kebab (GDK) has announced its entry into India, with plans to launch its first outlet in early 2026. The move comes after the brand signed a Master Franchise Agreement with GBC India, granting the company exclusive rights to develop and operate GDK across the country. As part of the deal, GBC India plans to open 450 outlets over the next 15 years, focusing on major metro cities, tier-one markets, and fast-growing urban centres.
The India foray marks a major milestone in GDK’s global expansion. The brand recently opened its 150th restaurant in the UK and now operates over 170 outlets worldwide, spanning Europe, the Middle East, and North America. Supported by True and Hero Brands, GDK is among the fastest-growing players in the global quick-service restaurant (QSR) space.
Simon Wallis, Chief Executive Officer at German Doner Kebab said, “At GDK, our vision is to dominate the kebab category across the world. India represents one of the most exciting opportunities for our business, powered by a young demographic and a rapidly growing appetite for aspirational dining. GBC has been a trusted partner who shares our passion for product quality and brand purpose. Together, we aim to establish GDK as a premium, culturally relevant fast-casual brand in India.”
GDK’s menu, designed around quality ingredients and innovative formats, has gained worldwide recognition. Popular offerings such as the Boss Box, OG Kebab, and Gym Box have helped the brand connect with younger audiences, particularly Gen Z and Millennials. The signature toasted waffle bread, premium lean meats, and handmade sauces are central to GDK’s commitment to redefining kebab dining.
Ginny Sahni, Managing Director of GBC India added, “This partnership is about more than bringing another international brand into the country. We see a clear opportunity to introduce a fresh, modern way of enjoying kebabs those appeals to India’s evolving consumer tastes. GDK’s commitment to quality and innovation aligns perfectly with what young Indians are seeking. Our focus will be on building a lifestyle-led dining experience that blends authenticity with contemporary flair.”
German Doner Kebab’s entry aligns with this growing consumer demand for globally inspired yet accessible dining options. Leveraging its global brand strength and a locally rooted partner, GDK aims to carve a niche in India’s fast-casual segment with its distinct approach to kebab-based meals. With GBC India overseeing long-term expansion, GDK is expected to build a strong presence across both high-street and shopping destinations. The brand’s focus will be on scalability, operational consistency, and technology-driven dining experiences suited for India’s dynamic consumer landscape.
