After earning a loyal following in Bandra for its authentic South Indian cuisine, Uppu has now opened its doors at Oleander Farms in Karjat, bringing its signature flavours and warm hospitality to the destination where the Ahuja family's hospitality journey first took shape.

Established by the team behind Oleander Farms, Saltt Karjat & Microbrewery, Common House, and Uppu Bandra, the new restaurant marks a significant milestone for the brand. Nestled amidst the serene surroundings of Oleander Farms, Uppu introduces Karjat's first dedicated South Indian dining experience, offering a menu inspired by tradition, nostalgia, and home-style cooking.

The name "Uppu," which means "salt" in several South Indian languages, reflects the restaurant's philosophy of celebrating simple yet memorable meals. The concept is rooted in cherished family recipes, regional culinary traditions, and the shared joy of gathering around food.

The menu showcases a rich variety of dishes from across South India, highlighting the distinctive flavours of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. Rather than reinventing classic recipes, Uppu focuses on preserving authenticity, with each dish prepared using traditional techniques and ingredients.

Breakfast remains a key part of the experience, featuring freshly brewed filter coffee alongside favourites such as crisp dosas, soft idlis, fluffy appams, and other South Indian staples. Set against Karjat's lush landscape, the restaurant offers guests a relaxed setting to enjoy leisurely meals, whether during a weekend retreat or a day trip.

"For us, it all began with a simple Sunday ritual: my dad, his favourite South Indian restaurant, a plate of idli, and that same corner table. That feeling of comfort, rhythm, and food that feels like home is what inspired Uppu. After opening our first restaurant in Bandra, bringing Uppu to Oleander Farms feels incredibly special because this is where our hospitality journey began. It feels like bringing a piece of home back home," says Aaliya Ahuja, Founder.
