Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield has appointed Flavius Chettiar as Director of Operations, strengthening its senior leadership team as it looks to consolidate operational performance in a competitive metro market.
Chettiar brings over 15 years of experience across luxury hospitality brands, with expertise spanning food and beverage strategy, large-scale hotel operations and team management. In his new role, he will oversee end-to-end hotel operations, ensuring coordination across departments while aligning service benchmarks with brand standards. His mandate includes supporting strategic growth initiatives and maintaining operational efficiency across functions.
Prior to this appointment, Chettiar served as Director of Food & Beverage at The Westin Mumbai Garden City. In that capacity, he led profitability initiatives, worked on improving guest satisfaction metrics and introduced new dining concepts across multiple outlets. His portfolio included operational oversight of Seasonal Tastes, Prego & Pronto, Eighteen Lounge and Kangan, along with in-room dining and banqueting.
Earlier, he was Assistant Director of Food & Beverage at JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu, where he managed F&B operations at the 350-room flagship property. His career also includes roles at Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, including assignments at Trident Bandra Kurla and The Oberoi Marrakech. At Trident Bandra Kurla, he progressed through positions such as Food & Beverage Service Manager and Banquet Manager. During his tenure at The Oberoi Marrakech, he assisted with pre-opening operations, supporting the establishment of F&B systems and team training in line with brand protocols.
An alumnus of the Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development, Chettiar has built a track record in operational controls, audit compliance and commercial performance. His experience includes delivering strong mystery audit outcomes, managing award-recognised dining formats and developing cross-functional teams.
“I am delighted to take on the role of Director of Operations at Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield”, says Flavius Chettiar. “The property has built a strong reputation for service excellence and contemporary hospitality in a dynamic market like Bengaluru. I look forward to working closely with the talented team to further enhance operational efficiency, elevate guest experiences, and drive sustained growth in alignment with Marriott International’s global standards. Together, we aim to create memorable experiences that resonate with both our business and leisure guests.”
Vivek Sharma, General Manager, Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield, commented, “We are pleased to welcome Flavius to the leadership team at Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield. His extensive experience across luxury hospitality brands, coupled with his strong operational and commercial expertise, makes him a valuable addition to our team. Flavius brings a deep understanding of food and beverage strategy, large-scale operations, and guest engagement. We are confident that under his leadership, the hotel will continue to strengthen its market positioning and deliver exceptional experiences to our guests”.
The appointment reflects a continued focus on operational discipline and revenue-linked service standards within Bengaluru’s hospitality segment. With over 15 years of experience in luxury hotel environments, Chettiar’s transition into the Director of Operations role signals a shift from F&B-centric leadership to integrated property-wide management. His experience in both established and pre-opening environments is expected to support structured growth and competitive positioning in the city’s evolving hospitality landscape.
