Restaurant India News: Basil Health Raises $1.5 Million from Brigade REAP and Whiteboard Capital to Expand Kiosk Network

Basil Health has secured $1.5 million in funding from Brigade Group’s Brigade REAP and Whiteboard Capital, along with participation from other investors. The capital infusion comes as the company accelerates its expansion strategy and strengthens its presence in the organised fresh beverage retail category.

The company currently operates more than seventy kiosks and ten robotic beverage machines installed in offices, hospitals, universities, and malls across three cities: Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, and Chandigarh. Basil Health is now preparing to enter new markets including Pune, Mumbai, and Hyderabad while investing in its supply chain, production systems, and operational workforce. The company plans to use the recently raised funds to expand its presence to 1,000 consumer touchpoints across India within the next three years.

Harshita Kejriwal, Co-founder and CEO of Basil, said, “This funding is a testament to our belief that healthy and taste together can be high-velocity. Our model is built on a small footprint and low capex. By operating at the intersection of premiumization and convenience, we are scaling toward 1,000 touchpoints and expanding to new cities over the next three years. Our mission is to build India’s largest clean and fresh beverage retail network. Our menu will comprise 70 percent beverage-led offerings juices, shakes, smoothies, and protein shakes and 30 percent food-supported offerings featuring healthier alternatives such as hung-curd dressings instead of mayonnaise. Rising incomes and a younger demographic are driving demand for matcha lattes, protein smoothies, and cold-pressed juices over packaged sugary drinks. India’s fresh juice and clean beverage market is one of the last large F&B categories without an organized national player which we at Basil Health aim to fill.”

Investors view the organised fresh beverage segment as a growing opportunity driven by shifting urban consumption patterns and increased demand for healthier alternatives. Aiyappa Somayanda, Chief Business Officer at Brigade REAP, said, “At Brigade REAP, while our core thesis is centred around Urbantech and the built environment, we closely track adjacencies that benefit from evolving urban consumption patterns. The health-conscious consumer segment is one such space, and we believe it represents a large and growing opportunity in India. Basil Health’s strong focus on kiosk-led formats and retail distribution addresses an underserved channel within this market, positioning the company well for scalable growth.”

Basil Health is building its retail network around automated beverage systems rather than conventional storefront formats. The company’s IoT-enabled machines, based on proprietary cold beverage automation technology developed in-house in India, blend fresh ingredients directly into individual cups. This setup allows beverages to be prepared on demand while maintaining standardized quality across locations.

The automation technology also enables remote monitoring and operational management, which can help streamline inventory, maintain consistency in product preparation, and support large-scale deployment across high-footfall locations. Such technology-driven formats offer an alternative to traditional café setups, particularly in spaces such as corporate offices, hospitals, and educational institutions.

With the latest funding round, Basil Health is positioning itself to expand its automated beverage retail model and strengthen distribution across multiple urban centres. As demand for healthier beverage options continues to rise among younger consumers and working professionals, the company aims to build a large-scale retail network focused on fresh and clean beverage offerings across India.
