Restaurant India News: Amichi Debuts in Bandra, Serving Authentic Neapolitan Pizzas and Italian Classics

Amichi has opened its doors in Bandra with a menu centred on authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas, classic Italian comfort food, and traditional recipes. Founded by Angelo and Mishal, the intimate 16-seater restaurant aims to offer Mumbai diners an authentic Italian experience built on time-honoured culinary techniques, quality ingredients, and genuine hospitality.

As Italian cuisine continues to evolve through fusion and localisation, Amichi takes a different path by staying true to its roots. The restaurant celebrates the simplicity of Italian cooking, relying on traditional methods, carefully sourced ingredients, and recipes that have been passed down through generations.

Designed to recreate the warmth of Italy's local eateries, the restaurant offers an inviting setting where guests are encouraged to slow down and savour their meals. From slow-fermented Neapolitan pizzas to thoughtfully curated interiors, every element has been crafted to reflect the comfort, familiarity, and convivial spirit that define Italian dining.

The restaurant's name embodies this philosophy. "Amichi" is inspired by the Italian word for friends while also echoing the Marathi word "Aamchi," meaning "ours"—a thoughtful blend that reflects its Italian heritage and Mumbai roots. The menu features signature pizzas including Margherita, Burrata Con Pesto, Quattro Formaggi, Diavola, Parma Ham, and Pizza Amichi.

Complementing these are classic antipasti such as Bruschetta Classica, Mozzarella in Carrozza, Parmigiana di Melanzane, and Fiori di Zucca, along with family recipes inspired by the founder's grandmother. Each dish is designed to celebrate Italy's culture of sharing meals and bringing people together. Desserts continue the authentic experience with regional Italian classics, led by the signature Panna Cotta—a delicate, silky dessert that showcases the elegance of traditional Italian flavours.

“The idea for Amichi really began with Angelo's search for pizza in Mumbai and the disappointment that came with. That led to many conversations about authenticity, tradition, and the kind of restaurant we felt was missing in the city. When we decided to build Amichi, we were clear about one thing: we weren't interested in reinventing Italian food. We wanted to celebrate it as it has been enjoyed in homes and neighbourhood restaurants across Italy for generations. Amichi is our way of bringing that experience to Mumbai”, says Mishal Varma, Co-founder of Amichi.

With its focus on authentic Neapolitan pizzas, traditional Italian flavours, and a deep respect for Italian culinary traditions, Amichi brings a fresh perspective to Mumbai's dining scene.
