K Hospitality is targeting Rs 6,000 crore in system-wide sales by 2029-30, up from approximately Rs 3,500 crore in FY26, as it plans to expand its restaurant portfolio, travel food services and institutional catering operations. The company expects the group to grow at approximately 20 percent over the next three years.
Karan Kapur, Executive Director, K Hospitality Corp and Kliff Ventures, told PTI that the sales target includes company-owned outlets as well as independent franchised and licensed stores. The group currently operates more than 120 brands across its three business verticals, including Nando's, Wagamama, Copper Chimney, Irish House and Bombay Brasserie.
As part of its restaurant expansion strategy, K Hospitality plans to open around 40 restaurants this financial year, taking its total to 100 outlets. The company is also expanding its travel quick-service restaurant and lounge operations through travel food services at airports in India and overseas. Its third growth area is banqueting, catering and institutional food services, with a focus on corporate parks and event catering.
"Our restaurant expansion will primarily focus on major metropolitan markets, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata. We will also expand in other major cities, including Pune, through select formats," Kapur said.
The expansion will include plans to double Nando's outlet count to approximately 36 during the year, alongside 6-8 new Copper Chimney outlets and around 6 Wagamama restaurants. These three brands are expected to account for a significant share of the planned additions. K Hospitality expects to invest approximately Rs 100 crore in restaurant expansion during FY27, funded through internal resources.
Kapur said the company is also in discussions with international brands interested in entering the Indian market. However, there are no immediate announcements regarding new joint ventures or partnerships.
India will remain the primary market for the restaurant business, accounting for about 99 percent of its operations. The group has a limited overseas presence, with around 3-4 outlets across the UAE, the UK and Sri Lanka through Copper Chimney and another group brand.
K Hospitality plans to follow a company-owned operating model for its current restaurant expansion. Kapur said this approach would allow the group to maintain control over food quality, operations, supply chains and customer experience.
"Having operated in the industry for over five decades, we have tested different business models. For our current expansion strategy, we believe company-owned operations allow us to maintain tighter control over quality, operations, supply chains and the overall consumer experience. Franchising has its advantages, but at our current stage of growth, maintaining consistency across our restaurants is particularly important," Kapur added.
