Chef Hari Nayak Returns to India with Maatribhoomi, Partners with Priykant Gautam

Maatribhoomi, a new dining concept, is set to open this September at Botanical Garden, Noida, bringing Chef Hari Nayak back to India with a culinary experience rooted in the country’s rich food traditions.

Chef Hari Nayak, who has built a global reputation through his work across the US, Dubai and other international culinary destinations, is partnering with Priykant Gautam to launch Maatribhoomi.

The restaurant is envisioned as a celebration of Indian culinary heritage, bringing together traditional flavours, indigenous dining practices and a contemporary approach to hospitality.

“This feels perfect, back to home, maatribhoomi is our motherland. Food is not just about recipes. It’s not just what happens in the kitchen. We are going right before the kitchen—that’s where we are starting. So, this is ideal,” shared Nayak in a video posted on Maatribhoomi’s Instagram page.

He currently operates Jhol in Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok and is also associated with Sona in the US, in partnership with Priyanka Chopra. In India, he runs Alchemist in Bengaluru, further strengthening his presence in the country’s evolving premium dining landscape.

The restaurant will also place a strong emphasis on traditional Indian crockery and cutlery, moving away from conventional fine-dining formats to bring elements of India’s historic dining culture to the table.

“Today, even our young generation doesn’t always know how rich and flavourful our food traditions are. Through Maatribhoomi, we want to showcase that heritage not only to the world but also to India itself. The crockery and cutlery are an important part of that story—they are not just objects on the table; they are part of our culinary identity,” added Gautam in the same video.
