Bengaluru Cafe Makes Mumbai Debut with First Outlet in Juhu

Bengaluru Cafe is entering Mumbai with its first outlet on Gul Mohar Road in Juhu, expanding beyond its home market after eight years of operations in Bengaluru. Founded by Vikas Sibramani and Varun, the brand is bringing its traditional South Indian menu to the city, with a focus on familiar dishes, standardised preparation and affordable pricing.

The founders started Bengaluru Cafe after Vikas returned to Bengaluru from the US and identified an opportunity for a restaurant centred on everyday local food. Despite their backgrounds in engineering and corporate roles, the two chose to build a business around traditional recipes rather than experimental menus.

The Juhu outlet carries forward the brand’s existing design approach, combining terracotta roofing, brick-style counters and greenery with a contemporary neighbourhood café format. The design retains elements of the Bengaluru outlets while adapting the space for Mumbai customers.

The menu includes idli, vada, dosa, rava idli, sambar, Jain sambar, pulav and coffee. The Mumbai outlet will also introduce Techa Masala Dosa, a location-specific addition. The menu will remain focused on core South Indian dishes rather than offering an extensive selection.

Bengaluru Cafe follows standard operating procedures across its products to maintain consistency between outlets. The brand continues to use traditional batter preparation and cooking methods, with an emphasis on ingredient sourcing and local produce where possible.

“The approach to the food is deliberately traditional. Bengaluru Café continues to follow age-old recipes, traditional batter preparation and cooking techniques, while sourcing the best ingredients available and using local ingredients wherever possible. Over the years, the brand has developed detailed SOPs across its products to ensure consistency across outlets without changing the recipes or cooking methods at the heart of the food. The result is food that is deliberately familiar rather than experimental dishes people may have grown up eating, prepared with the care and consistency that make them worth returning to. Mumbai is a city that embraces people who come here with a dream, and for us, this is a very special chapter. We are not coming to Mumbai to prove something from the South. We are coming because we genuinely believe that the experience of South Indian food we have grown up with and experienced in Bengaluru is something Mumbai audiences should also get to experience. Right now, our focus is Juhu. We want to build it quietly and organically, through our food, our customers and word of mouth, “ says Vikas, Co-founder, Bengaluru Cafe.

The Juhu opening is the brand’s first step into Mumbai. The founders plan to focus on building a customer base at the new outlet before considering further expansion, relying on food quality, repeat visits and word of mouth to grow in the market.
