Thought Coffee Opens Bandra Flagship as Mumbai Quick-Service Coffee Market Expands

Thought Coffee is opening its flagship outlet in Bandra, targeting the growing demand for quality coffee in a faster, everyday format. Founded by Kush Kachhara, Kshitij Patil and Jhanvi Shah, the brand is positioning its format around accessibility, speed and coffee quality.

Thought Coffee was developed around a gap identified by its founders in Mumbai’s expanding coffee market. While speciality coffee options have become more common, the founders see an opportunity for a format that combines quality coffee with faster service and a grab-and-go model.

“China showed us how quickly coffee can move from a café experience to an everyday habit. We started asking whether India could be at a similar inflection point,” says Kshitij Patil, Co-founder, Thought Coffee.

The brand’s core coffee range uses single-origin AA Arabica beans sourced from a single estate and roasted to its own profile. The menu also includes speciality options such as rum barrel-aged and wine barrel-aged coffees, along with Colombian Castillo coffee.

Beyond coffee, the outlet offers matchas and ubes, baked goods, croissants, croissant sandwiches and tea cakes. Its smoothie bowl range includes Sunrise with passion fruit and Berry Berry with mixed berries.

“Good coffee shouldn’t feel like something you have to compromise on. We wanted to create a format where quality and accessibility could exist together, without making the experience feel complicated,” says Kush Kachhara, Co-founder, Thought Coffee.

The brand has also introduced the One Less Thought positioning, built around making coffee a routine purchase rather than a planned café visit. The operating model is focused on customers picking up coffee before work, between meetings or while travelling between destinations.

The Bandra outlet uses a compact, takeaway-focused format and machine-driven brewing, with orders targeted to be served in under five minutes. The model is designed around a short customer journey from ordering to collection.

“We wanted to create a coffee brand that fits naturally into the rhythm of the day. You should be able to know that you can get a good cup of coffee without having to overthink the experience,” says Jhanvi Shah, Co-founder, Thought Coffee.

Thought Coffee plans to spend its first 15 months building density across Mumbai before pursuing a national expansion. Its longer-term plan is to have outlets within three minutes of its customers, with potential locations including neighbourhoods, tech parks, shopping centres and other high-footfall areas.

The Bandra flagship follows the same compact format, with glass walls, rattan pendants and terrazzo floors. The outlet is intended to support the brand’s focus on quick service rather than positioning the café primarily as a destination.
